A KT Wiz Park restaurant recommendation! [ Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Suwon KT Wiz Park Branch ] is perfect for a family meal out.

Finally, a decent family restaurant option near Suwon's Hanil Town!! It's a mackerel spot that people of all ages love ><!! The name itself made my mouth water — here's my review after visiting Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo (grilled-in-a-wood-fired-oven mackerel).

Restaurant alley and shared parking lot near Hanil Town

Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo turned out to be right next to another spot I like. I go to Gyodong Banjeom pretty often too, and they share a parking lot and are attached to the same building, so it was easy to find. You could call this a proper food alley haha.

What does the 16,000-won mackerel set and self-serve bar include?

The self-serve bar at Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Suwon KT Wiz Park Branch is included with the ₩16,000 set, and even the rice is free. Besides bibimbap ingredients, there was tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), fried snacks, japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), coffee, tea, and sungnyung.

I went in with zero expectations, and what surprised me was exactly this self-serve bar!! The price is only ₩16,000 per person, which is really cheap already, and yet you also get the self-serve bar. There's rice, and even fried food and tteokbokki, so there's no chance of leaving without a full stomach... lol

Free rice and self-serve bar side dish corner

You can make your own bibimbap too, and there was a whole spread of vegetables and side dishes. What I loved was that even the rice was free..!! My husband loves rice and usually eats two bowls, so he could fill up on a bowl of bibimbap with no extra charge.

Tray of tteokbokki at the self-serve bar

A mackerel place that also has tteokbokki?! I was shocked. It's not spicy, just sweet and chewy, so kids would probably enjoy it too. It really was a great spot for a family meal out.

Fried potato and snacks corner at the self-serve bar
Japchae and other side dishes at the self-serve bar

There's fried food too (the potato was ridiculously good), and japchae!! Since the side dishes come as a base set, once you finish those you have to go grab more yourself if you want extra. Feels wasteful to leave any behind, so...

Not just side dishes and extras — even the drinks were on point. Coffee, tea, and sungnyung..!? They really have everything. For ₩16,000 you get the main dish plus sides, an appetizer, and dessert, all sorted.

Mixing your own bibimbap at the self-serve bar

At the Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo self-serve bar, you can make bibimbap with bean sprouts, bracken fern, radish salad, and even salted seafood, plus sesame oil and lettuce set out alongside.

Here's a bowl I packed nice and full — I really love namul (seasoned vegetables), so I was happy I could add bean sprouts, bracken fern, radish salad, and even salted seafood, ㅠㅠ. Sesame oil and lettuce were also set out at the bar, so you can mix it in to your own taste.

Namul bibimbap mixed with gochujang

I went a bit heavy on the gochujang (red chili paste)... a little salty haha. But mixing it with the brown rice that came with the main dish balanced the seasoning out perfectly. Don't be greedy like me — go easy on the gochujang >3< (too much and it gets salty-salty).

How was the mackerel set served for two?

At Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Suwon KT Wiz Park Branch we ordered the mackerel set for two, and the wood-fired mackerel was crispy outside, moist inside. It came neatly plated with brown rice and side dishes.

I was so busy checking out the self-serve bar that I lost track of time, and before I knew it, the mackerel set had arrived! We ordered the set for two, and it came very neatly arranged. I found myself worrying how I'd wash all these dishes ㅠ — such a rookie-homemaker thought lol.

True to the restaurant's name, it came out perfectly grilled. The look of it made me want to send fish to the wood-fired oven every single day — grilled just the right amount of nutty and delicious.

The side dishes were also set up so neatly that this would be a great place to bring your parents or friends. And above all, the hall was genuinely spacious. Even with a group, I don't think it would ever feel cramped.

Spacious dining hall with room for groups

Fish is the one thing you never cook at home because of the smell, right? So I was so happy that a grilled fish place this good opened up right near my house. I already love mackerel so much that I used to travel around just to eat it — and now there's one right by Hanil Town!!!! Total win!!

Suwon Pay payment and parking at Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo

Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Suwon KT Wiz Park Branch accepts Suwon Pay, and there's a large parking lot behind the building. During my September visit, there was a 20% Suwon Pay cashback event running.

The price is already so reasonable, and on top of that, Suwon Pay was accepted. Since it was September, there was a 20% Suwon Pay cashback event going on, so using Suwon Pay made the meal even cheaper.
