Mild chicken korma for parents at Manokamana, Songdo Indian curry

In short

Manokamana Songdo Branch is an Indian curry restaurant on the first floor of a shopping complex on Haedoji-ro in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. Three adults, including the writer's parents, ordered butter chicken, chicken korma, three naan, two rice and a mango lassi à la carte, and the chicken korma, made with cashews and cream, had almost no spice aroma, which made it the mother's favourite. Manokamana Songdo is an easy choice for a family meal out with parents who find strong spices off-putting.

Indian curry spread at Manokamana Songdo Branch

This time I went back to Manokamana Songdo Branch, a Songdo Indian curry restaurant. I'd been here before with my parents and the spice flavor was milder than I expected, with lots of savory, smooth menu items — so I thought of it again and went back haha. It's tuned to Korean tastebuds with a soft flavor profile, so I always leave satisfied!

This time I got to enjoy a variety of Indian dishes — from the sweet and savory butter chicken, to chicken korma which I tried for the first time, to a refreshing mango lassi. Here's my review of Manokamana Songdo Branch, a Songdo Indian curry restaurant!

Where is Manokamana Songdo and where do you park?

Manokamana Songdo Branch is on the first floor of building G, 107 Haedoji-ro, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, South Korea, in a shopping complex near Haedoji Park. It's open daily from 10:30 to 22:30 and offers parking support. Being inside a shopping complex, it's easy to find.

Entrance to Manokamana Songdo Branch on the 1st floor of the Haedoji-ro shopping complex

If it's your first time, I'd recommend parking near exit 3 of the complex. Enter the underground parking lot, park near exit 3 → take the elevator → get off on the first floor and the restaurant is right there on your left. No getting lost!

Walk in and you're greeted with soft lighting and an exotic atmosphere that really feels like India.

Indian-style decor placed throughout the restaurant

There's decor typical of Indian restaurants scattered around, which is fun to look at, and the floor-to-ceiling windows mean you can eat while looking out at the view — a nice touch.

Widely spaced tables and seating

The tables are spaced generously and the seats are comfortable, making it a good spot for family meals as well as dates or gatherings. I visited with my parents and it was a comfortable place to eat.

What three adults ordered at Manokamana Songdo

Curry menu board at Manokamana Songdo Branch

True to being a Songdo Indian curry specialist, Manokamana Songdo Branch has a wide range of curry dishes. This time we properly ordered two of our favorite curries along with naan, rice, and lassi haha. There are set menus too, but we wanted to focus on the curries so we ordered à la carte! Ordering is done via QR code.

  • Butter chicken
  • Chicken korma
  • 3 naan
  • Mango lassi
  • 2 rice

I love dipping naan deep into curry sauce, and I can't give up mixing it into rice either, so we ordered generously. Note this was for 3 adults!

There's also a Naver event running, so it might be worth checking before your visit!

Butter chicken vs chicken korma: which is milder?

Butter chicken at Manokamana Songdo

Tomato-based butter chicken curry

The must-order signature dish at any Indian curry restaurant! What more is there to say. Hesitating just wastes time — order it, no question. The tomato-based smoothness blends with the creamy savoriness for a flavor everyone loves without exception.

Tender chicken pieces inside the butter chicken

The chicken inside is tender too, and it's deeply soaked in the curry sauce, so tearing off some naan and piling on the sauce hits with insane umami in every bite.

Chicken korma with cashews and cream

Chicken korma made with cashews and cream

This was my mom's pick! Made with cashews and cream, it's incredibly savory and smooth, with amazing flavor!!!! As far as I could tell, the chicken korma barely had any of that distinctive Indian spice smell or taste?

A bowl of chicken korma served with rice

Even people sensitive to spices or trying Indian curry for the first time could probably enjoy this without much resistance. It's creamy with deep savoriness, and it paired really well with rice too.

Why you should order naan a few at a time

Warm naan served in three pieces

At Manokamana Songdo Branch, ordering one naan gets you 3 pieces, and we ordered a whopping 3 naan orders lol; also, don't order it all at once — order more as it runs low so you get warm, soft naan. Tearing off warm naan and dipping it in curry — oh man, I totally get now why Indians eat with their hands haha.

Pickles, jalapeños, and onion kimchi served alongside

If things get too rich, you can add pickles and jalapeños, and that onion kimchi! It's really spicy, but it pairs perfectly with the curry. It goes well with a smooth curry like butter chicken, and was also delicious piled high with the savory chicken korma. With 3 naan and 2 rice, even 3 adults finished everything without any leftovers.

Mango lassi: a first taste

A glass of mango lassi with a straw

And the mango lassi I tried for the first time. This was my first time having lassi, a traditional Indian drink, and it had a slightly tangy-sweet mango yogurt feel! If I had to describe it — mango-flavored Bifidus, maybe? When you get a little tired of the curry and naan, sipping this through a straw cleans your palate right up haha. Just the right amount of sweet and tangy and smooth — the fresh yogurt taste was great as a palate cleanser.

Verdict: a Songdo Indian curry restaurant to take your parents to

The table at Manokamana Songdo Branch after finishing the meal

Manokamana Songdo Branch was satisfying enough that I'd happily visit again with my parents — a great Songdo Indian curry restaurant. Above all, the curries don't have an overpowering spice flavor, so even first-timers to Indian food could comfortably give it a try.

The butter chicken was, as always, a can't-fail choice, and the chicken korma I tried for the first time was especially a hit with my mom. If you're looking for smooth, savory Indian curry in Songdo, this is worth a visit — especially for a family meal with parents or on a day you want something different. You know parents secretly love trying new food too, right? Definitely go check it out!
