Tonkatsu lunch for 3 in Pangyo: mixed katsu don at Katsu Shokudo

Trying to figure out dinner near Pangyo Hyundai Department Store, we ended up at Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch just nearby. It's connected on B1 so you don't even have to step outside 😊

Ordering the set menu means you get side dishes along with your katsu, so it seemed like a solid full meal. This time, as a group of three, we ordered the set for two plus a mixed katsu don :)

How close is Katsu Shokudo to Pangyo Station Exit 3?

Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch is on B1 of Alphadom Tower, right across from Pangyo Station Hyundai Department Store.

It's about 100m from Pangyo Station Exit 3, so it's a quick walk. On rainy or cold days, not having to leave the station area is a real plus. If you're driving, Alphadom Tower parking makes it pretty accessible for meeting up in Pangyo.

Once you arrive, the storefront has a big sign reading Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch, so it wasn't hard to find.

It's a Japanese-style handmade tonkatsu restaurant that opened in 2019. What really stood out even before going in were the rows of Blue Ribbon stickers by year at the entrance.

Inside Katsu Shokudo: seating for solo diners and groups

Just so you know, there's a tablet at the entrance for parking registration (3 hours)!

Solo dining is possible too — I saw people eating alone. There are also two-person tables and family/group seating, so it looked good for a work lunch break too!

Oh! They even have hair ties available — such a thoughtful owner! You definitely need one when eating noodles, but sometimes you show up with a bare wrist..! Small touches like this are honestly moving-!

Ordering the 35,000-won set for two plus a mixed katsu don

We ordered the set for two at 35,000 won and the mixed katsu don at 18,000 won. We wanted to try both the tonkatsu and the side dishes, so this is how we ordered. If you're someone who can't pick just one menu item, the set is probably the easiest option :)

They offer free refills on rice, salad, and soup! Also, adding their KakaoTalk channel gets you a free drink coupon, so make sure to do that~!!

The katsu arrived! My first impression was how golden-brown and appetizing the breading looked.

Loin katsu set with soba

Even from the photos, the breading looks golden and pretty crispy on the outside. True to loin katsu, there's a good balance of lean meat and fat, giving it a nuttier, softer feel than the fillet. The meat wasn't too thin either, so each piece had a satisfying bite.

Personally, it wasn't the kind of tonkatsu that bursts with juice for maximum impact — more like a solid, no-frills loin katsu done right.

The side we picked was soba! Taking a bite of cool soba between bites of tonkatsu cut through the richness, and the combo worked better than I expected. There's plenty of radish and scallion on top, and wasabi comes on the side, so you can mix in as much as you like :)

Fillet katsu set with udon

Ordering it alongside the loin katsu made it fun to compare the two. Fillet is a nearly fat-free cut, so it's leaner than the loin katsu. If you're not a fan of greasy tonkatsu, fillet is probably a better fit than loin.

For the fillet katsu, we picked udon. Having a warm broth alongside made the whole meal feel heartier. If soba feels like a clean palate cleanser, udon lets you enjoy warm broth too — so it's really about picking based on mood or weather that day.

Personally, loin katsu + soba felt like a nutty, refreshing combo, while fillet katsu + udon felt lean and filling.

Mixed katsu don, 18,000 won

True to its name, it's not just one type of katsu but several kinds served over rice — a great option if you want to try a bit of everything. While the set is about enjoying the crispiness of the tonkatsu itself, katsu don is more about eating the rice and sauce together, so it felt distinctly different.

The sauce soaks into the rice so you get katsu and rice in one bite — if you're someone who always needs rice with a meal, this might suit your taste more than the set. That said, if crispy texture is what matters most to you, the loin or fillet set is probably the better fit than the sauce-heavy katsu don.

Which Katsu Shokudo menu should you order?

• For nutty flavor → loin katsu
• For a leaner option → fillet katsu
• For rice in every bite → mixed katsu don

Overall, it felt less like a bold or unusual take on tonkatsu and more like a well-composed, clean set meal. Most of all, it's genuinely close to Pangyo Station and lets you pair tonkatsu with soba or udon, making it a solid choice for a Pangyo office lunch or a solo meal!

Since preferences for loin versus fillet vary, and you can choose between soba and udon, I'd also recommend ordering different things within your group and sharing :)
