Aewol pork noodle restaurant parking and combo for two: Handam Guksu

I was looking for somewhere to eat lunch in Aewol, Jeju, and ended up at Handam Guksu Gwakji Aewol Branch. I've had pork noodle soup in Jeju a few times before, but this place had more than just the bone-broth version — dongchimi bibim noodles, mala pork noodles, even lean meat gukbap (rice soup) — so the menu was more varied than I expected.

We went as a pair and ordered bone-broth pork noodle soup + extra-large dongchimi bibim noodles + handmade pork tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties)! Getting one hot noodle soup, one bibim noodle dish, and tteokgalbi on the side meant we could split everything nicely haha. Where Handam Guksu Gwakji Aewol Branch is and where to park

Handam Guksu Gwakji Aewol Branch is at 33 Aewol-ro, Aewol-eup, Jeju-si, 1st floor. From outside, big photos of bone-broth pork noodle soup, dongchimi bibim noodles, and mala pork noodles are plastered on the storefront, so it wasn't hard to spot even on my first visit haha. You can see exactly what kinds of noodles they serve right from the entrance, which made it easy to preview the menu before going in.

We used the nearby Aewol Handam parking lot. When I visited, the sign at the lot listed 4,000 won for the first hour, then 1,000 won per 10 minutes after that. Around Aewol a lot of people drive, so I always check parking before picking a restaurant. Rates can change, so please check the sign on-site again on the day you visit!

Inside the restaurant and how tablet ordering works

When I visited, the place was pretty packed with customers. Most tables were full, so I just quickly snapped the overall atmosphere haha. I blurred faces since other customers were around, so please just use this to get a sense of the layout and vibe!

At Handam Guksu Gwakji Aewol Branch, you order via a tablet at the table. You can browse menu names alongside photos, so ordering wasn't hard even on a first visit haha. I originally only had bone-broth pork noodle soup in mind, but browsing the menu I realized there were way more options than expected — bone-broth pork noodle soup, dongchimi bibim noodles, mala pork noodles, and lean meat gukbap, plus side dishes like sliced boiled pork, tteokgalbi, and dumplings you could order separately.

Bone-broth pork noodle soup, 10,000 won

We started with the bone-broth pork noodle soup! Several slices of meat sat on top of the milky broth, along with bean sprouts and scallions. In person, the meat portion was more generous than the photos suggested haha. Eating the meat and noodles together, with sips of the warm broth in between, was really satisfying. Since photos alone wouldn't show the portion or texture well, I also filmed lifting the noodles and meat together haha.

Extra-large dongchimi bibim noodles, 11,000 won

Next up, dongchimi bibim noodles! We ordered the extra-large size for ₩11,000 instead of the regular. It came with cucumber, bean sprouts, meat, and a red sauce, plus a side of dongchimi (radish water kimchi) broth. At first everything was laid out separately, but before eating they mixed it well so the sauce coated everything evenly. Once mixed, the red sauce spread across the noodles and looked completely different from the initial photo, so I filmed that too haha.

If bone-broth pork noodle soup is the warm broth option, dongchimi bibim noodles is the mixed, cold option, so ordering both together didn't feel repetitive at all. Handmade pork tteokgalbi, 3 pieces for 10,000 won

Two noodle dishes alone felt like it might be a bit lacking, so we added handmade pork tteokgalbi as a side. It's ₩10,000 for 3 pieces. Three round tteokgalbi patties came out, grilled to a golden brown on the outside.

Here's what the inside looks like on the first bite! It's on the thicker side, so it was great to eat a piece in between bites of noodles haha. I especially liked pairing it with the dongchimi bibim noodles! Adding one side dish rather than just two bowls of noodles made the whole spread feel more filling.
