Frozen cornet café near Gwangneung Arboretum in Pocheon: Geurine Oasis

Hi everyone, it's Maesil! Today my mom and I went to Pocheon to buy grapes, and I heard there was a bakery café with a great view nearby, so we stopped in! This is [Geurine Oasis], also well known as the café near Pocheon's Gwangneung Arboretum!

The weather's been so good lately, right? Cool breeze, warm sun — perfect weather for an outdoor café, so I went in with high hopes haha. Turns out it's a huge bakery café with Gomori Reservoir right in front of it!

What is the café like, and is parking easy?

The first thing you see walking in is a huge parking lot, and even on a weekday afternoon it was packed! There's room for about 20–30 cars, and when it's full you're directed to a nearby public lot!

The building itself is a warm butter color, which matched the sunlight beautifully that day! There were plenty of both indoor and outdoor seats, which felt like a real plus since you can just pick wherever you want~

Just a heads-up: the café is split into a main building and an annex, and you can only order at the main building!

Do you order at a kiosk or at the counter?

There were about 3 kiosks, but you could also order directly at the counter! There wasn't a separate printed menu though, so you have to check the menu on a kiosk and then order at the counter! The menu categories were genuinely varied — coffee, non-coffee, ades, non-alcoholic 'booze,' and even a premium herbal tea section! They had kids' drinks too, so it seemed good for bringing little ones along!

The bakery case had salt bread, croissants, cornets, butter bars, scones, pretzels, sandwich bread, and slice cakes all lined up at the counter, so picking something was genuinely fun haha.

How dog-friendly is Geurine Oasis?

This place is a pet-friendly café — 📍 note: the main building is off-limits to pets, while the annex (indoor and outdoor) and the dog run are pet-friendly!

Honestly I thought that setup was actually pretty smart haha. People who are scared of animals can just use the main building!

What we ordered at Geurine Oasis and what it cost

We ordered 1 iced Americano, 2 hot Americanos, a frozen cornet in milk flavor, a frozen cornet in strawberry flavor, and ang-butter salt bread (salt bread with sweet red bean and butter)!

A basic Americano runs around ₩7,000, and the bakery items are mostly ₩4,000–5,000, so the prices skew a bit higher than an average café!

Honestly we'd just eaten ourselves silly at a shabu-shabu place for lunch, but the bread looked so good I couldn't resist and ordered anyway haha.

You can book a fire-gazing seat too

Checking the kiosk, I noticed you can order 'fire-gazing' (bulmeong) seating too!! We went during the day so we skipped it, but I heard weekday reservations are possible via Naver, so if you're interested, booking ahead seems like a good idea~

Eating on the terrace with a Gomo Reservoir view

Since there were so many cars at the café, we grabbed a seat first before ordering, worried the outdoor spots might all be taken!

Luckily there was an outdoor spot open, so we sat where we could see Gomo Reservoir!

After ordering, they sent a KakaoTalk message once the order was ready, so we could just sit and enjoy the view comfortably until then! That kind of system was really convenient haha.

I kept reaching for the ang-butter salt bread even though I was already full from lunch — apparently the salt bread here is baked in-house! You could definitely tell from the buttery smell and texture!

Switching between the milk and strawberry cornets meant neither got boring, and the iced Americano leaned more nutty than acidic, which paired well with the bread!

Drinks come in a reusable tumbler, and apparently you get to take the tumbler home with you — it felt a little like getting a souvenir!

Main building, terrace, annex, rooftop: a guide to each space

Main building

The main building has the restrooms, a return counter, and info boards showing the WiFi details and a map of the main building and annex!

Outdoor tables

Coming out of the main building and following the white gravel path leads you to the outdoor tables!! Right as you step out, there's a dog run on the left, and there are tables inside the run too, so pet owners were just seating themselves right inside the run!

The dog run is posted as only for dogs under 50cm shoulder height, under 24kg, and registered and vaccinated.

Outside there were both tables set up for fire-gazing and regular tables without it!

Annex

The annex has indoor fire-gazing seats too, with safety guidelines posted! The annex also has separate men's and women's restrooms!

The interior has a really nice design, and there's a service zone — not exactly a return counter, but a spot where you can grab water and tissues!

The annex has floor-to-ceiling windows that are all open, so it feels connected to the terrace outside — if you find direct sun a bit much, the annex terrace seats would be perfect! Isn't it just so pretty??

Rooftop

There's also a separate rooftop, but it's a no-kids zone and pets aren't allowed there either (probably for safety reasons!). We wanted to see the reservoir up close, so we skipped the rooftop this time!

Best time to visit for the reservoir view

Doesn't the weather look amazing?? On a cool, clear day, the outdoor seats are honestly the best! It really was gorgeous weather that day! Days like this don't come around often, so you've got to enjoy them right away!!

The fountain out front kept shooting up and it was so refreshing, honestly.

If you're looking for a café near Pocheon's Gwangneung Arboretum, I'd recommend visiting now while the weather's this cool and autumn-like! In summer you'd probably retreat inside pretty fast from the heat, but in weather like this you can sit outside for ages with zero discomfort haha. I bet the reservoir view will be even prettier once the leaves turn, so I'm already thinking about a return visit!!

A Pocheon drive course: buy grapes, then stop for coffee

We just happened to stop by since we were already out in Pocheon buying grapes, and Geurine Oasis, the café near Gwangneung Arboretum, fit perfectly into the drive course. Buying fruit, then resting at a café with a great view — it was an easy, low-pressure route for a date with my mom haha. My mom was especially in a good mood that day! Since there are lots of grape orchards around the café, I'd recommend picking some up on your way in too!!

Final verdict on Geurine Oasis

Geurine Oasis, well known as the café near Pocheon's Gwangneung Arboretum, had the Gomo Reservoir view, the butter-colored building, and good bread and coffee on top of it all — just an all-around feel-good café. Sitting outside on a nice day, taking in the view, put me in such a good mood haha. Next time I want to come at night and try the fire-gazing seats for sure! If you're planning a Pocheon trip, this place is worth a stop :) Would revisit ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
