I went to a jazz bar on a trip to Bangkok, and the lingering feeling made me want to find something similar back in Korea. Then I came across a place in Songpa that serves dinner alongside a jazz performance, so I checked it out — the food was tasty and the mellow live show was lovely to listen to. If you're looking for a jazz bar in Jamsil where you can also have a proper meal, I recommend giving this place a visit!

Allegro's hours and September jazz lineup

Allegro's hours are 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM (last order at 9:30 PM), with a break from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and it's closed every Tuesday! The jazz lineup changes monthly and varies by day of the week, so check the September schedule for reference.

Show times and ticket price

At Allegro in Songpa, the jazz show runs in two sets: Set 1 from 7:30 to 8:10 PM, and Set 2 from 8:40 to 9:20 PM. Each set runs 40 minutes with a 30-minute break in between. Keep in mind that if you visit during show hours, there's a separate ticket charge per person — ₩10,000 on weekdays and ₩15,000 on Fridays and Saturdays.

Tablet ordering, 15% lunch discount, and anniversary lettering

At Allegro, where you can eat while listening to jazz, there was a fairly wide range of Western dishes to order. Ordering is done through a tablet placed at each table, and the menu was surprisingly extensive. I visited in the evening, but apparently if you come for lunch, you get 15% off dinner prices. And if you're visiting for an anniversary, they provide a dessert with a lettering service too — pretty much perfect for a Jamsil date course.

Before the jazz show properly started, there was an instrument tuning session, and I couldn't take my eyes off the pianist's flashy hand movements. I didn't film the whole performance, just a bit — but even that little clip got me excited ^^

First-come seating, some with a view of Lotte Tower

Seating at Allegro, a Jamsil date course spot, is first-come, first-served — you pick whatever seat suits you when you arrive. Seats close to the stage seemed good for focusing on the performance, while the seats to the side with a view of Lotte Tower looked great for soaking up the atmosphere.

That night's jazz show in Jamsil featured a single vocalist, and I filmed the last piece of Set 1 on video.

A Songpa restaurant where you can naturally eat your food while watching and listening to the show. Since we'd ordered before the performance started, the dishes came out one by one during the show.

First out: the seafood salad

Among the dishes we ordered at Allegro, the seafood salad came out first. Since they sell wine, there were also lighter options like burrata salad or citrus feta salad that pair well with it, but the seafood salad looked so appetizing the moment I saw it that I knew immediately it was the one.

The combination of fresh vegetables and seafood was as good in taste as it looked — one of those dishes that made me wish we'd ordered one each. If you're going to order a salad here, definitely try this one!

Traditional carbonara made with egg yolk alone

I'm a gnocchi lover so I wanted to try their gnocchi, one of the signature menu items, but this time I went with carbonara. Maybe because it's a Songpa Western restaurant, but Allegro's carbonara came out genuinely well-made.

Made with guanciale, pecorino cheese, and fresh egg yolk alone, the carbonara had a rich, deep flavor. No cream or milk goes into it — just egg yolk, the authentic Italian method — and the creamy texture was excellent. Since guanciale is a traditional Italian cured meat, it can turn salty once it cools, so it's best eaten right away.

Sous-vide pork shoulder steak

We also ordered a thick sous-vide pork shoulder steak. It came with french fries, and paired with the accompanying sauce, it tasted great.

Went for the jazz bar, stayed for the food

Eating our way through the dishes at Allegro, what struck me was that even though I came for a Songpa jazz bar, this is a Songpa Western restaurant that clearly takes its food seriously. The jazz was great, but the food was just as good, so I'd love to come back next time for some wine.

With mellow jazz and delicious food both on point, Allegro in Songpa is a spot I'd happily recommend for a Jamsil date course.
