As I wrapped up my Jeju trip, I started thinking about easy, no-pressure souvenirs and ended up visiting Jeju Dongmun Market! While enjoying the lively market atmosphere and browsing around, I tried an amazing oranda spot, so here is my review of Cheongchuni Oranda!

Seriously, I fell for it after one bite—it was so delicious that I knew I absolutely had to give lots of people my honest review 🥹

Finding Cheongchuni Oranda by a Dongmun Market gate
It is really easy to find if you enter Dongmun Market through Gate 2 or Gate 9!

The shop is large and noticeable, so I spotted it right away.

When I walked up to the shop, the owner kindly invited me to sample everything and choose what I liked 🤍 I had thought of oranda as just a simple old-fashioned snack, but there were far more flavors and varieties than I expected, which made browsing so fun too!

Oranda and yuja gwajul varieties and prices
- Four classic oranda flavors: manong (garlic), gamtae seaweed, yuja (citron), and nut
- Donut oranda: Hallabong citrus, green tea, peanut, carrot chocolate, strawberry, cookies and cream, black sesame, yellow cheese, chocolate, and coconut / ₩3,500 each

The yuja gwajul (crisp rice-and-syrup confection) came in packs of 5 for ₩5,000 or 12 for ₩10,000, with four grain varieties: steamed rice, white rice, brown rice, and buckwheat.

- 550 g bulk packs: yuja ₩10,000 / nut and manong ₩12,000
- Small bundle: ₩10,000 for 3 pieces (₩11,000 depending on the selection when gamtae or Udo peanut is included)
- Square oranda: yuja ₩3,500 / Udo peanut ₩4,000
- Individually wrapped gift set: ₩23,000

I sampled three of the classic oranda flavors—nut, yuja, and manong—and chose the bulk nut pack and yuja gwajul!

Store oranda at room temperature, not in the fridge
🚨 Oranda storage note and honest taste review! Do not refrigerate oranda ❌❌—please keep it at room temperature!

I kept it safely at room temperature, then took it out and ate it the very next day... Wow, what even is this... I could not stop myself from saying it.

It was not hard at all; it melted smoothly in my mouth, and that wonderfully chewy texture was a work of art!

It is just sweet enough, so no matter how much I ate and ate again, I never got tired of it—it just kept disappearing!!! It is soft enough to tear apart easily with your hands too!!

Yuja gwajul and my parents’ reaction
I also loved that the yuja gwajul I brought home had such a variety of grains on top.

Every single one was crisp, nutty, and so delicious!

🎁 I strongly recommend it as a gift for parents too! I thought this would be absolutely perfect as a Jeju gift, so I shared some with my parents. My dad and I have very similar tastes, and he absolutely loved this bulk oranda! It suited grown-up tastes perfectly too, so I thought it was the ultimate Jeju snack that anyone—young or old, men or women—would enjoy without hesitation 👏
The bulk nut oranda (550 g) is the definition of soft and chewy, without sticking to your teeth at all! It looked like a lot at first, but the balanced sweetness and nutty flavor kept me reaching for more. Stored at room temperature, it had the exact same texture the next day, and my parents were totally satisfied—they polished it off in no time while sitting there.
The yuja gwajul brings together the nutty flavors of four grains—steamed rice, white rice, brown rice, and buckwheat—with a refreshing yuja aroma! Its wonderfully crisp bite makes it easy for anyone of any age to enjoy, and the price is easy on the wallet too, so I recommend it as a Jeju travel gift!
