Jeju restaurant for Texas chili and draft beer: Dixie's

A trip from Jeju to Texas. Dixie's, a great rice bowl spot near Gwandeokjeong in Jeju.

On day two of our Jeju trip, I found Dixie's while looking for a good place near Gwandeokjeong on the way to Jeju Dongmun Market. I was a little curious about a restaurant with a Texas vibe in Jeju.

Southern American vibes like this in Jeju! It was a style I don't usually come across, and I was in the mood to cure my hangover with something rich, so I went for lunch.

A Southern American atmosphere straight out of a movie

It looked like a film set from the outside, and once I stepped in, the atmosphere I felt from the exterior was still there. It had the kind of feel you might have seen in an American movie.

The interior didn't feel like an ordinary restaurant either; during the trip, it felt as though I'd briefly walked into somewhere else. There was a table of international guests too, which made me wonder, am I abroad right now?

From the items around the restaurant to the kitchen atmosphere, everything felt really different. I like restaurants with this kind of mood, so it was fun just looking around too.

Ordering Cajun shrimp and Texas chili

I spent ages looking at the menu and deciding what to eat. Honestly, I wanted to try it all~ but calm down, haha. Reviews made the Cajun shrimp seem popular, so we ordered the Cajun shrimp and Texas chili.

We also chose Coke Zero and Stella draft beer, and ordered coleslaw as well.

Since it was Southern American food, I was a little worried it might be too rich, but I also thought it would be fun to try such unusual dishes among the restaurants near Jeju Dongmun Market.

A filling Cajun shrimp rice bowl

The sauce for the Cajun shrimp is underneath, so just mix everything together before eating. Since it is a rice bowl, it comes with rice, so it felt more like I had eaten a solid meal than simply one menu item.

The shrimp were plump and nice to bite into, and I could taste a smoky char too. It came with vegetables, so was it healthy as well? I never expected to find a dish like this while looking for a restaurant near Gwandeokjeong in Jeju, but it suited my taste better than I expected.

Texas chili left the stronger impression

The Texas chili had a richer flavor than the Cajun shrimp. While eating it, I thought this would be really delicious with bread too.

We ate the coleslaw alongside it too, and its tangy crunch went well with the salty food.

The Cajun shrimp was delicious too, but for me, the Texas chili had a little more impact.

With draft beer now, burgers and chicken next time

The food was generally on the salty side, so it paired nicely with Stella draft beer. I heard the chicken is tasty too, but apparently it is a dinner menu item.

We visited at lunch, so we couldn't try it this time. It feels like a place that will come to mind when I want something a little different near Jeju Dongmun Market.

If I come back to the area, I want to try the burgers and chicken then too~!!
