35-week maternity photoshoot at Seongsu self-photo studio U&E

A 35-week maternity self-photoshoot story from a self-studio in Seongsu.

Took photos~ took more photos~ and before I knew it... this is my fourth maternity snap shoot!! My friend said she's never seen someone do four maternity shoots for one baby, haha. I'm now genuinely a month away from my due date, so I wanted to capture how much bigger my belly has gotten, so I visited a studio.

U&E Studio Seongsu: location, parking and hours

U&E Studio Seongsu is located at 347 Gwangnaru-ro, 3F 302, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, and parking is available in the lot behind the building. Hours are Mon–Fri 10:00–21:00, Sat–Sun 10:00–20:00.

What outfits can you rent at U&E Studio Seongsu?

It seems they do a lot of bridal shower shoots, because there were many types of white and black dresses ready. They also had a good variety of basic shoes, so you really could show up empty-handed! Best of all, they had maternity crop t-shirts — such a thoughtful touch, haha. You can see it in the photo below.

Baby outfits were pretty varied too! We used one of these baby outfits as a prop to hold during the maternity snap shoot, haha.

Props available at U&E Studio Seongsu

There were faux flower bouquets, plus floral decorations to arrange on the floor.

There were several balloons too, great to hold for photos, and the gift box models photograph really well, haha.

There were props like wigs and sunglasses for comic photos, along with a model cake and lots of other versatile props. There's even a cute sash that says "Welcome to the Married Club"! Haha. These props would also be perfect for a bridal shower shoot with friends.

And a chalkboard is another prop that adds variety to self-shoot photos!! Just writing a simple phrase with different colored chalk gives the photo a nice feel, haha.

A preview of our 35-week maternity photos

It's usually recommended to save a few maternity photo poses from Pinterest or Instagram before the shoot. Here are some classic, easy-to-shoot poses:

• Cradling the belly with both hands
• Husband hugging the belly from behind
• Facing each other and looking at the belly
• Emphasizing the belly line from the side
• Holding an ultrasound photo next to the belly
• Sitting and naturally cradling the belly
• Holding hands with your husband and looking at the camera

But since U&E Studio has such a variety of props, we managed to get lots of photos we loved without any special preparation!!

Maternity photo pose tips using U&E Studio Seongsu's props

For the first photo, we stacked two boxes and rested my chin on them, and also captured a surprised expression while opening a box, haha.

Not sure if it was basketball or soccer, but there was a baby uniform and a red cheer stick, so we improvised this pose on the spot, haha.

We struck a sweet pose holding the model cake~

We even put sunglasses on my D-line pregnant belly!! Haha. There was the same design in two sizes, so it made for such a cute photo. My husband brought over a dinosaur balloon with great timing, and that gave us the best cut of the day!

With a full hour to shoot, we even had time to change outfits once in the middle!
