Chinese restaurant in Dong-gu, Ulsan: two stone plates in one order
In short
Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong is a Chinese restaurant on Ilsanjin 5-gil in Dong-gu, Ulsan, near Ilsan Beach and Daewangam Park, specialising in scorched-rice stone-plate jjamppong and stone-plate jjajang. On a third visit, late on a Sunday afternoon, the order was whole-squid stone jjajang and regular stone jjamppong at the same time — too filling to add menbosha like the table next door. Ordering both plates at once at Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong doubles the satisfaction without any second thoughts.

This is my third visit to Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong, a favorite spot in Dong-gu, Ulsan. Today's meal was a bit more special — an eating battle. Spoiler: I lost...
Late Sunday afternoon: parking at Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong was quick
Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong is at 1F, 6 Ilsanjin 5-gil, Dong-gu, Ulsan, and the parking lot is huge. I visited on a Sunday afternoon thinking it'd be quiet since it was late, but the lot was packed with cars. Still, because it's so big, I parked quickly.

The best items at this Dong-gu, Ulsan restaurant are the scorched-rice stone-plate jjamppong and scorched-rice stone-plate jjajang.

Opening hours and break time
11:00–21:00, last order 20:00. Break time 15:30–17:00.
Inside the restaurant: waiting seats, self-serve corners, kids' amenities
The waiting seats at Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong are indoors, so no worries whether it's cold or hot outside.

The restaurant is split into two sides. Each side has its own self-serve corner, which makes things really convenient for customers.

Since I was there until closing time at this Dong-gu, Ulsan restaurant, I got to capture the whole interior. I guess you really can only photograph the inside properly at opening or closing time.

I think the reason more customers keep showing up every time I visit is because they don't skip these thoughtful little touches. A high chair, kids' dish storage, and even a dedicated baby-food microwave! No matter who visits, Daewangam Dol Jjamppong near Daewangam in Dong-gu, Ulsan, is nothing but comfortable. Seriously, kudos!!!

The order: whole-squid stone jjajang and regular stone jjamppong
On this third visit, I ordered whole-squid stone jjajang and regular stone jjamppong together at Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong. Jjamppong today, jjajang next week — order doesn't matter, right?!!!

Turns out order did matter this time. After trying both, I realized on this third visit I couldn't give up either one. And! The table next to us — also three people — had ordered both dishes too. Couldn't! Lose! To! Them! Whole-squid stone jjajang, regular stone jjamppong. Button pushed!!!

Even with a full house, the staff work so smoothly together that food comes out fast. Look at this battle-ready spread. I'm glad we ordered both.

The sides at this Dong-gu, Ulsan spot are genuinely delicious too, so we said let's just try them before ordering more. Seeing the portion size, I felt a little intimidated. Could we really finish all this?

This place even appeared on Ulsan Broadcasting's Ultra: Tune In to Ulsan, a show I watch religiously — the 'Real Local Favorite' episode.

Scorched-rice stone-plate jjajang: whole squid and free rice
The scorched-rice stone-plate jjajang at Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong gets tastier the more it bubbles and reduces. It's loaded with all kinds of seafood — eat the jjajang, eat the scorched rice, then fry the free rice in the leftover sauce. Women could probably split this into about three servings if you add a side. The portion is huge.

Seriously, don't eat this too fast. If the last bite is this good, you'll just want more. The squid is like gold squid — plump and full of meat. If you love squid, go today, no excuses! And if you saw this and can't go today, save the post!
Scorched-rice stone-plate jjamppong: thick sauce, not soup
The scorched-rice stone-plate jjamppong at Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong isn't a spicy soupy jjamppong — it's a thick, almost dry-style jjamppong, and the flavor soaked all the way into the noodles is next level! Now I get why they promote it as 'stone jjamppong.'

Green onion kimchi from the self-serve corner and the scorched-rice finish
I'm a pickled radish fiend, so I love this Dong-gu, Ulsan restaurant's self-serve corner. I still try to take small portions so I don't waste any... but that just means a lot of back-and-forth trips.

But this place is busier restocking green onion kimchi than pickled radish. Wrapping the last sauce-soaked noodles in green onion kimchi is an incredible combo! Nobody can stop me now.

Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong, a hot spot born in Dong-gu, Ulsan. We finished with the scorched rice at the end. As they say, Koreans run on rice power. So nutty and delicious!

Dessert: candy, gangjeong (Korean rice snack), and yogurt drinks.

How full were we? No room left for menbosha
So, um... the table next to us ordered stone jjamppong, stone jjajang, AND menbosha (crispy stuffed toast), and cleared it all — but us? After finishing both our plates, we were so full we couldn't order menbosha.
Losing at eating?!!! After a round of yogurt drinks, we agreed that next time we won't snack before the meal.

Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong, a Dong-gu, Ulsan favorite where I already can't wait for visit number four. Thanks to the family at the next table, I learned it's totally fine to order two dishes at once. Ahahaha. Eating both really does mean zero regrets and double satisfaction. Since it's near Ilsan Beach, we took a walk around Ilsanji after the meal — lots of things had changed, we caught some busking, and I think I need to come to Dong-gu more often.
Eating without overthinking it just tastes better — Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong, a Dong-gu, Ulsan favorite
