Jeju City restaurant for margherita pizza and ricotta salad: Cultured
In short
Cultured is a pasta and pizza family restaurant on Seungcheon-ro in Ara-dong, Jeju City. At lunch the Cultured Lunch Special brought ricotta chicken salad, mushroom cream pasta, spinach cream risotto and tomato basil margherita pizza, and the portions were big enough that the pizza went home in a box. With a hall divided by partition walls and separate group tables, Cultured suits family gatherings as easily as a two-person lunch.

Inside Cultured: wood interior and a hall split by partition walls
Cultured's interior, with its wooden tables and chairs, felt sleek yet welcoming, and gave a sense of visual calm even for a long stay. Rather than a restaurant focused purely on making the space look pretty, it felt like the whole dining experience was designed as one connected spatial experience.

Thanks to well-placed partitions and partition-like structures, even sitting in the main hall felt private. Beyond the central hall area, there are separately divided group rooms and group tables, which I found really impressive — the space is designed so you can choose a spot suited to your purpose, whether it's a family gathering, a small work dinner, or a couple's anniversary. Even without doors, level changes or partition walls help raise the focus of each gathering.

What's on the menu at Cultured?

I visited during lunchtime and ordered Cultured's signature great-value Cultured Lunch Special. I got the ricotta chicken salad, mushroom cream pasta, the Cultured spinach cream risotto, and a tomato basil margherita pizza.

Ricotta chicken salad
The ricotta chicken salad was a great combination of ricotta cheese and grilled chicken. Cultured's house-made yuzu dressing was refreshing and paired well with the salad. Rather than the salty, strong-flavored profile of typical cheese, the ricotta had a soft, mild, savory quality that went well with the grilled chicken.

Mushroom cream pasta
The mushroom cream pasta had umami coming from the mushrooms, plus a nice combination of the bacon's smoky saltiness and the sweetness from the onions. There was truffle oil aroma coming through with real depth. Truffle oil can carry a pretty strong aroma even in small amounts, so if you like that distinctive truffle scent, I'd recommend this one.

Cultured's spinach cream risotto
Cultured's signature spinach cream risotto uses a house-made spinach cream sauce topped with grilled chicken, so rather than being just spinach risotto, you get the savoriness of the cream together with the flavor of the grilled chicken. It's a taste that even people who aren't especially into spinach could eat pretty comfortably, not to mention spinach lovers.

What came through was more the smooth, savory taste of the cream sauce than the raw, grassy taste of spinach itself. Once mixed into the cream, the spinach's distinctive grassy note wasn't overpowering — instead you got its color, aroma, and a subtle vegetable flavor, which paired well with the grilled chicken.

Tomato basil margherita pizza
The tomato basil margherita had a great combination of natural cheese, tomato sauce, and house-made basil pesto. Since margherita pizza uses simple ingredients, the balance of cheese, dough, and basil matters more than the amount of toppings — and Cultured's version, made with house-made basil pesto instead of standard margherita toppings, had a subtle basil aroma. The dough was made pastry-style, so it was crispy.

How big is the lunch set, and is Cultured worth it?
The lunch set was great value — everything was tasty and the portions were so generous that I couldn't finish the pizza and had to box it up. This seems like a good spot to visit with a group too.

With its everyday family-restaurant atmosphere in downtown Jeju City, it looked like a great option to visit with family or a group. The lunchtime set is such good value that I'd recommend visiting during lunch.

If you're looking for a good restaurant in Jeju City, Ara-dong, or a pasta restaurant in Jeju City, I hope you'll give Cultured a visit :)
