Looking for a good spot for a work dinner near Seolleung? I went back to Haetan, a place I'd enjoyed once before. It specializes in squid dishes, so ordering just one set gets you a variety of dishes at once — that's what I liked about it. It's apparently been featured on several TV shows, and this time I made sure to properly enjoy the signature Haetan Set again.

How to find Haetan Seolleung Branch from Exit 2 of Seolleung Station
Haetan is located on the 2nd floor of a building close to Exit 2 of Seolleung Station. It's an easy walk from the station, and the space is large enough for groups, making it a popular Seolleung Station restaurant for nearby office workers heading out for lunch or dinner appointments. Groups of up to 100 can be accommodated, so it's worth keeping in mind when looking for a place for a work dinner.

Inside Haetan Seolleung Branch: seating for group gatherings
Inside, the restaurant is neatly set up mostly with tables for four. Besides the main hall, there are also private rooms available. It seemed like a nice touch that you can adjust to your group size, from a small meal to a large office dinner.

What is on the squid-specialty menu at Haetan?
Looking at the menu, you can really feel how committed this place is to squid. The Haetan Set and Duo Set are the signature dishes, alongside a range of other squid dishes like boiled squid, fried squid, and vinegared squid salad. They say they use 100% squid, no giant squid. There's also a separate lunch special, which makes it a good choice for office workers looking for a Seolleung Station restaurant to grab lunch at.

Free rice refills until 2pm at lunch
During lunch hours, you can get free rice refills until 2pm. With the lunch special plus all the rice you want, it seemed like a good option when trying to decide on lunch nearby.

Two promotions running at Haetan Seolleung Branch
There were some fun events going on too. One lets you win a free meal voucher worth up to ₩100,000 if you guess exactly 8.88 seconds, and there was a separate lucky draw event as well. Coming in for a meal and finding events like this to try adds an extra bit of fun.

The self-serve bar: side dishes, soup and rice tea
They bring out the basic side dishes at first, and if you need more, you can freely grab them from the self-serve bar. The self-serve bar has not just side dishes but also scorched-rice tea and bean sprout soup, so you can use as much as you need comfortably.

Ordering the Haetan Set again on a return visit
What we ordered was the signature Haetan Set. It comes with stone-plate squid stir-fry, flower pork belly, seasoned raw squid, and fried squid all at once. Since I liked it so much last time, I ordered the same set again without a second thought. It's the perfect setup for people like us who prefer eating a variety of things rather than just one dish.

Sizzling stone-plate squid stir-fry
The stone-plate squid stir-fry comes out sizzling on a hot stone plate. The sauce is slightly sweet, and since it stays hot for a long time, it was good to eat slowly. It also went well with rice.

Flower pork belly boiled pork and seasoned squid
The flower pork belly went well when paired with the seasoned raw squid. Since the pork belly can be reheated, it stayed warm throughout the meal. Pairing the tender pork belly with the seasoned raw squid gave a nice variety within the set.

Big pieces of fried squid
The fried squid was substantial in size from the start. It's not just a thick batter — there's plenty of actual squid inside, so it had a satisfying chew with each bite. It has a totally different texture from the stir-fry or the seasoned salad, and it would be a shame to leave it out of the Haetan Set.

A beer alongside the squid feast
With such a full spread laid out, I couldn't resist a beer. With the stir-fry, pork belly, seasoned squid, and fried squid all there, it was great for picking at one dish after another as a drinking snack. If you're looking for a Seolleung Station restaurant for dinner, this is a great combo for a meal with a drink too.

Fried rice in the leftover sauce is a must
Even though we were already quite full, I couldn't give up the final fried rice. Stir-fried in the leftover sauce, it was the perfect finish after eating the squid stir-fry. Personally, I'd recommend leaving a little room from the start if you're coming to Haetan, just for the fried rice.

Ice cream to finish the meal
After eating our fill of the squid feast and fried rice, finishing off with cool ice cream at the end made it feel like a proper conclusion to the meal.

Who will enjoy Haetan Seolleung Branch?
Having enjoyed it before, I was glad to return to Haetan and once again get to try squid stir-fry, boiled pork, seasoned squid, and fried squid all through just one Haetan Set. I'd especially recommend it to people who like trying several dishes at once, or anyone in Seolleung looking for a place that works for lunch, dinner, or an office dinner alike.
