Jeju restaurant for sunset dinner with grilled hairtail-fish set
In short
Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Bansang Jeju Iho Tewoo Branch is a wood-fired grilled fish restaurant near Iho Tewoo Wooden Horse Lighthouse and Shilla Stay Iho Tewoo in Jeju. After watching the sunset at the lighthouse, the writer ordered the wood-fired mackerel set and the imyeonsu (Atka mackerel) grilled set, plus unlimited fried eggs and tteokbokki from the self-serve bar. The imyeonsu grilled fish, with its crispy skin and moist flesh, was so good the writer wants to come back 200%.

Today I spent a good while soaking up the red sunset at Iho Tewoo Wooden Horse Lighthouse, a great spot to visit near Jeju Airport, and then headed nearby for dinner.
One of our staff members had come down to Jeju from Seoul after a long time away and had been trying all kinds of food, and this time grilled fish sounded perfect. We visited the Jeju branch of Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo — I'd actually been to the Gwangalli branch in Busan before, and their wood-fired grilled fish was so delicious I fell in love with it. Imyeonsu grilled fish is the best ❤️
So this time there was no hesitation at all — we knew we had to go. I'd recommend this as a family dinner spot near Iho Tewoo in Jeju, and it's really close to Shilla Stay Iho Tewoo, so I highly recommend it to anyone staying there too.

The view from the restaurant was especially great — being able to eat while watching the sunset was really satisfying!

Grilled fish restaurant near Jeju Airport: exterior and interior atmosphere
The whole building is finished in clean floor-to-ceiling glass, so it felt stylish even before stepping inside.

We happened to visit right after watching a beautiful sunset near Iho Tewoo Wooden Horse Lighthouse, and even through the glass windows inside, you could catch a glimpse of the sunset — the atmosphere was really lovely!
The wood interior and pretty lighting also made it great for photos. The view is gorgeous enough that it holds up as a family dinner spot near Iho Tewoo, Jeju.

Every table has a tablet ordering system, so you can pick your menu easily. On the tablet, you can even see Park Se-ri from the show "Namgyeoseo Mwohage" happily eating fish.

Unlimited self-serve bar: unlimited tteokbokki and fried eggs
The self-serve bar here is honestly a stroke of genius!! You can fry your own eggs unlimited (and free) at the self-serve corner.

There's also tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cakes) with wheat rice cakes in a thick sauce.

There were basic side dishes like seasoned bean sprouts, braised lotus root, various namul (seasoned vegetables), fresh wrap greens (lettuce, napa cabbage) — and even tteokbokki was included!

Our meal: wood-fired mackerel and imyeonsu grilled sets
We ordered the wood-fired mackerel set and the wood-fired imyeonsu set that day :) We were so hungry and in such a rush that we grabbed food from the self-serve bar first. But then we realized we had no chopsticks or spoons, so we just sat there staring at it haha. Turns out the utensils only come out with the main dish.

When our wood-fired grilled fish finally arrived, it looked so good we couldn't help but gasp. Waiting while starving definitely made it taste even better.

Maybe because it's grilled in such a high-heat wood oven, the skin was crispy while the inside stayed moist with the juices intact.

There was zero fishy smell and the flavor was clean, so it went perfectly with rice.

The grilled mackerel came out cooked beautifully too, but personally I found the imyeonsu especially delicious.

After recharging emotionally with a gorgeous sunset at Iho Tewoo Wooden Horse Lighthouse and arriving starving, this really tasted amazing T_T Piling fish on a wrap green with a little ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) on top fills your mouth with happiness!

The imyeonsu grilled fish has large bones, so the flesh is easy to pick off, and the fish is incredibly moist.

All the side dishes were delicious too, but the lotus root salad was especially nutty and tasty — I should try making it at home sometime.
Overall thoughts: an Iho Tewoo restaurant I'd also recommend for solo dining
Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo, this wood-fired grilled fish restaurant near Shilla Stay Iho Tewoo, hit all three marks — friendly staff, a clean self-serve bar, and delicious wood-fired grilled fish.
If you're looking for a hearty, delicious meal after visiting Iho Tewoo Beach, staying near Shilla Stay, or sightseeing at the Wooden Horse Lighthouse, definitely stop by here. Next time I'm in Jeju, I'd come back 200%!
