Jeju Korean restaurant for dongchimi bibim noodles: Handam Guksu
In short
Handam Guksu Gwakji Aewol Branch is a noodle and gukbap restaurant by Handam Beach in Aewol, Jeju. I tried dongchimi bibim guksu and lean pork gukbap, and especially loved the generously meaty noodles and finely shredded pork in the soup. Verdict: a filling ocean-view meal worth revisiting in Aewol.

If you want noodles and gukbap near Handam Beach
During my trip around western Jeju, I visited Handam Guksu, a great spot for pork noodles and pork gukbap :) This Aewol pork-noodle favorite is right by Handam Beach! With noodles, gukbap, and even tteokgalbi on the menu, it is an easy place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Handam Guksu Gwakji Aewol Branch location and parking
It is on the first floor at 33 Aewol-ro, Aewol-eup, Jeju-si, and open daily from 10:00 to 20:30. Here is the exterior! There is parking right out front, so it is very convenient. Parking is free too!

Today’s order: dongchimi bibim noodles and lean pork gukbap
Today’s order :: dongchimi bibim guksu (spicy mixed noodles with radish-water kimchi) + lean pork gukbap (rice soup). There are both noodle and rice dishes, so it is an easy choice for everyone!

A spacious ocean-view restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows
This is the inside of the restaurant! It has a long layout with lots of seating, and everything was clean and comfortable. The relaxed atmosphere makes it a great place to eat with family, friends, or your partner. After eating here today, I recommended this delicious place to lots of people around me~

The restaurant has floor-to-ceiling windows, so you can see the sea outside! Every seat has an ocean view over Handam Beach~ The weather was lovely, so I enjoyed it even more haha.
Let me introduce the menu! There are beef-bone pork noodle soup, dongchimi bibim noodles, mala pork noodles, dombe suyuk (Jeju-style boiled pork), and house-made black pork tteokgalbi (grilled minced meat patties). I wanted to try both a rice dish and a noodle dish, so I ordered dongchimi bibim noodles and lean pork gukbap! I wanted to try the tteokgalbi too, but they said the portions were large, so I definitely want to have the black pork tteokgalbi on my next visit~!!!
What side dishes are at the self-service bar?
The restaurant has high chairs, and you can take as much of the side dishes as you would like from the self-service bar from the start! I really liked how spotlessly it was maintained.

There are side plates and scissors, plus trays to make things convenient! The side dishes are kimchi, pickled dried radish strips, and hot peppers. It was my first time trying pickled dried radish strips, and they were sooooo delicious haha. The kimchi was delicious too and went perfectly with the lean pork gukbap! They suited my taste so well that I want to make them at home next time~

You can tell how good a place is just from its side dishes, and both were so tasty. The pickled dried radish strips go beautifully with the noodle dishes, so please try them! The kimchi is also really good with gukbap. The Cheongyang chili peppers are spicy, so only have them if you like heat haha. I love them!

How did the dongchimi bibim noodles taste?
Today’s dishes arrived, and the presentation was amazing from the start. They look so delicious, right? The dongchimi bibim noodles in particular came out sooo prettily haha. The dongchimi broth is the key: pour it in, mix it all together, and it is absolute heaven. I personally totally recommend the noodles, which are loaded with cucumber, bean sprouts, and lean pork! The bibim noodle seasoning is incredible. There is a reason locals come here.
Lean pork gukbap with finely shredded meat
The lean pork gukbap! Many other places serve big slices of dombe pork, but Handam Guksu is different: its meat comes finely shredded, which makes it easier to eat, gives it a great texture, and tastes so good~ It is easy for children to eat too, with a flavor everyone from kids to adults will enjoy!

The dongchimi bibim noodle broth is deep and savory! There is especially a huge amount of meat, so eating the noodles, bean sprouts, cucumber, and meat together is heavenly! It was a flavor I was thinking about again the next day haha.

The gukbap has such a deep flavor that it really feels nourishing and filling. The meat had a slightly tuna-like texture, and I enjoyed it so much~ It is delicious with kimchi, so please make sure to try them together!
If you are looking for a delicious meal near Handam Beach, please make sure to visit Handam Guksu, Aewol’s pork-noodle favorite!! It was delicious enough that I want to return on my next trip, so I can recommend it with confidence~
