Stuck on what to have for lunch? How about donkatsu (breaded pork cutlet)~~~~ Let's go to a Pyeongdong Station donkatsu spot in Gwangju.

<Jinsim King Donkatsu Pyeongdong Branch hours> Daily 10:00–21:00
Jinsim King Donkatsu Pyeongdong Branch is open every day, and it opens early, which was so great!!! My husband had a health checkup, so he'd been fasting since the night before after working out — starving, haha. Once the checkup was done he was so hungry, so we looked for a Pyeongdong Station donkatsu spot where we could get an early brunch, and decided on Jinsim King Donkatsu Pyeongdong Branch, haha. Best choice ever!
Jinsim King Donkatsu is a chain, and there's one right by Pyeongdong Station in Gwangju! It's not too far from our place either, haha.
Parking and what the restaurant looks like from outside
Seriously, don't even worry about parking — the lot is genuinely, really, really huge! Haha.

This whole huge space is the parking lot of the Pyeongdong Station donkatsu spot, Jinsim King Donkatsu! Haha.
The building itself is pretty sizeable too.

The Pyeongdong Station donkatsu spot, Jinsim King Donkatsu!
Inside Jinsim King Donkatsu and what's on the self-serve bar

We came so early we were customer number one, basically an opening run, haha. Thanks to that, there was nobody inside so I got to snap some interior photos. Going in, there's a huge hall on the left.

There are tables on the right too! Plenty big enough for a group. And then, the self-serve bar!

The self-serve bar is fully stocked with fresh vegetables and side dishes, haha.

At Jinsim King Donkatsu, even the donkatsu sauce is self-serve!! Absolutely the best!!

And soup is self-serve too, broth is self-serve!!! You've got to have soup before the donkatsu, am I right?
Menu prices and how to order by tablet

Here's the menu~

Ordering is done via tablet, let's go~

There's also a Naver receipt review event going on, don't miss it! We wrote our review super fast and got a cider (soda) too, haha.

Why is the donkatsu red? Because it's delicious^^ hahaha.

Have your soup before the main dish~! While you're drinking the soup, your ordered food shows up at lightning speed.
It comes riding on this little guy, haha — made into a GIF it looks like it's zooming, haha.
They bring it right to your table.
What we ordered: king donkatsu, cheese waterfall donkatsu and cold jjolmyeon
So satisfying~ Jinsim King Donkatsu ₩10,900, Cheese Waterfall Donkatsu ₩15,900, cold jjolmyeon ₩9,500.

We prefer having the sauce on the side, so we got it separately!! And I found out later that my husband had also added spicy sauce, hahahaha. First time trying the spicy sauce added on — it was pretty tasty!!!! Definitely adding it again next time~!
Cheese Waterfall Donkatsu, 15,900 won
Cutting into the cheese donkatsu first~
A beautifully cooked cheese cutlet.

Packed full of cheese!

And the cheese just pours out! My favorite menu item! One I can never skip!!!!
The cheese cutlet with spicy sauce is seriously such a great match!!!! I bet ordering it as Spicy Cheese Waterfall Donkatsu for ₩16,400 would work too — I'll order that version next time, haha.
Jinsim King Donkatsu, 10,900 won
And the main dish~ Jinsim King Donkatsu! Seriously a KING-sized donkatsu, haha. The size alone is insane!
Cutting away diligently.
Dipping it fully into the donkatsu sauce is delicious, haha. This is the real dip-and-eat style~ hahaha, long live dipping!!!!
New menu: cold jjolmyeon, 9,500 won
And Jinsim King Donkatsu's new menu, cold jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles)!!!
Mixed it up nicely~ mix mix~ The cold jjolmyeon had a bit of a mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) feel to it, which I liked. Since pregnant women can't eat mulhoe, I imagined it while eating the cold jjolmyeon instead, hahaha. The jjolmyeon noodles were nice and chewy, and the sauce and broth had that mulhoe vibe, so it was really good, haha. It also felt like a fitting way to wrap up summer!!! bb

Packing up leftover donkatsu at the self-packing station
The real finishing touch was the cider we got from the receipt review event~ It'd feel like a waste not to claim it, so definitely join the receipt review event. When two people order three dishes, food inevitably gets left over. Think it's a shame? No worries — at Jinsim King Donkatsu you can self-pack the leftovers and take them home!

Ta-da! The leftover donkatsu heads home with us^^ Apparently it became my husband's beer snack later... haha. When you pack it yourself, it inevitably ends up with sauce poured over rather than on the side, but hey^^;; can't just throw away delicious donkatsu~ Pack it up neatly and go~!
Found something funny while finishing our meal.

Nothing to do with the donkatsu, just leaving this because it's funny, hahahaha. This morning my husband had blood drawn for his checkup, and the spot where they drew blood was different from where they put the bandage. We cracked up over that while eating, ha... anyway, that happened... hahahaha.
A relaxed, happy lunch — delicious food at a delicious restaurant, plus cracking up over a funny situation. The end^^~
