Two pizzas shared with a kid at Bueokgan Suwan, a Gwangju pizza spot
In short
Bueokgan Suwan Branch is a Western-style restaurant in the Suwan district of Gwangsan, Gwangju, known for wood-fired pizza, pasta and brunch. Unable to forget the Pemanong Jambon pizza tasted at the Sangmu branch, the writer visited the Suwan branch with her child and ordered two whole pizzas — the Pemanong Jambon pizza and the arugula pizza. Thin, chewy dough with green onion spread and jambon, plus arugula with prosciutto, made a combination good enough to eat every day without tiring of it.

The Pemanong Jambon pizza I first tried at Bueokgan's Sangmu branch, a Western restaurant in Gwangju! I couldn't forget that taste, so I went back for more — this time I had errands to run in the Suwan district, so I stopped by Bueokgan Suwan Branch.

Bueokgan Suwan Branch hours, break time and parking
Bueokgan Suwan Branch is open 11:30–21:00, with break time from 15:00–17:00, and last order at 20:20.

For parking, this Western restaurant in Gwangju sits on a street where roadside parking is allowed, so I was able to park. But the street is pretty narrow, so it might be tough for new drivers!

I visited on a weekend, and even though it was past mealtime, the place was full — I only had to wait a little before getting a table. That's the class of a Gwangju Western food spot!!

What the Bueokgan Suwan dining room is like with a child
There are outdoor tables too, so eating outside on a nice day would be really lovely.
Inside, it's bright and modern — a great vibe for brunch or a date!

There were plenty of tables too, so it looked great for group gatherings!
The restrooms were separated by gender and clean.
They also have baby chairs, so Bueokgan Suwan Branch is a great Gwangju Western food spot for family dining too~!
Ordering two pizzas at Bueokgan Suwan with a kid

What we ordered was the Pemanong Jambon pizza and the arugula pizza!

I went with my kid, and she didn't want anything else — just wanted to eat lots of pizza, so it ended up pizza-only .... T_T Bueokgan's pasta, risotto, and pilaf are all delicious too, you know ....ㅠㅠ

It was so hot that we started with a glass of Coke — Coke really does go with pizza.

Arugula pizza: prosciutto and arugula on thin dough
The arugula pizza came out first — apparently it's a light, clean pizza topped with arugula and prosciutto.

That cheese visual, my god ,,,,ㅠㅠ A piping-hot pizza fresh out of the oven really doesn't envy any feast.

The arugula was piled on generously too — the freshness and fragrance of the arugula was just so good.

The crust was thin, chewy, and light — even the bread alone was delicious!

The prosciutto was salty yet full of flavor, and it matched perfectly with the fragrant arugula — genuinely a Gwangju Western food spot worthy of the name, ㅠㅠ

Pemanong Jambon pizza and its addictive green onion spread
The Pemanong Jambon pizza came out right after, and the visual was seriously something!!
I came back because I couldn't forget this taste, so seeing it again made me so happy haha. A familiar taste is a scary thing..!!

Apparently 'Pemanong' is the Jeju dialect word for green onion. It sounds kind of like a foreign word, so it's funny that it's actually Jeju dialect ㅋㅋ

This green onion spread is seriously so delicious — rich and savory yet nutty, a super addictive taste!! And they put on a generous amount too, love it.
The crust, again, thin and fluffy~~

The jambon was salty yet clean, with an incredible umami that paired so well with the green onion spread. Seriously, everything here is good ,,,ㅠㅠ

Why the writer would return to Bueokgan Suwan
Today I tried the Pemanong Jambon pizza and arugula pizza at Bueokgan Suwan Branch, also known as a top pasta and brunch spot in the Suwan district — and I felt it again this time: this is a taste you could eat every single day without getting tired of it... Next time I'm coming back for the brunch and pasta!! If you're looking for a good restaurant in Gwangju's Suwan district, I recommend Bueokgan Suwan Branch!! 👍
