Serving robot pork cutlet in Cheomdan, Gwangju: Jinsim Wang

Today I'm sharing a story about the delicious pork cutlet and jjolmyeon (spicy cold noodles) I had in Cheomdan, Gwangju! There are so many good restaurants in Cheomdan that I had trouble deciding where to go, but this time I was craving donkkaseu (pork cutlet), so I visited Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu! The name itself sounds like they're seriously devoted to their cutlets, so I went in with high expectations haha.

What's the vibe like at Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu Cheomdan?

Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu Cheomdan is a giant pork cutlet restaurant on Cheomdangangbyeon-ro in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju. Walking in, the interior was spacious and neatly arranged. The tables weren't cramped together at all, so it felt comfortable for dining, and it seemed like a great spot to visit with friends or family!

When you think of a pork cutlet restaurant, you might picture a slightly cluttered, bustling atmosphere, but this place was kept clean and tidy, which made a great first impression 😍

A self-serve bar with lettuce wraps, plus kids' cutlery

On one side of Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu Cheomdan there was a self-serve bar! It was convenient to grab the basic side dishes you needed while eating. 🥬Putting the pork cutlet on lettuce with some ssamjang made it even more delicious!

There was also kids' cutlery available, so it seemed like families with young children could eat comfortably too! 👼

The self-serve bar was kept clean and well-managed, so it was easy to use 😻 Being able to help yourself to as much as you need makes it convenient whenever you want a little something extra with your meal!

Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu offers various dishes centered around pork cutlet, along with side dishes that pair well with it, so you can choose according to your taste! Note that it's one menu item per person.

That day, from among the many menu items, we ordered the most basic yet signature dish, Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu, along with jjolmyeon, which seemed like it would pair well with the cutlet! Eating just cutlet alone can feel a bit greasy, so pairing it with spicy-tangy jjolmyeon seemed like a great flavor combination, and we picked it right away haha.

A serving robot brings the food to your table

At Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu Cheomdan, once the food is ready, a serving robot brings it to your table 🤖 I've seen restaurants with robot servers here and there these days, but experiencing it firsthand was still kind of amazing haha. Watching the robot arrive at the table, set the food down, and then head back seemed like it would be fun for kids visiting with their families!

Jjolmyeon, the combo that cuts through the richness of pork cutlet

Jjolmyeon really was a great pairing with the pork cutlet! 🌶️ The chewy noodles combined with a sweet-tangy, spicy sauce really woke up the palate. After a few bites of fried cutlet, things can start to feel a bit greasy, but a bite of jjolmyeon right then cleans up your palate with its spicy-tangy flavor!

Personally, I loved alternating bites of pork cutlet and jjolmyeon 💗 A crispy, savory bite of cutlet, then a tangy-spicy bite of jjolmyeon — they filled in what the other was missing!

The taste of the signature Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu

And here comes Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu! Seeing the generously sized cutlet on the plate already felt like it would make a satisfying meal! 🤤 The breading was fried crispy on the outside, giving it great texture, and combined with the tender meat inside, the crispy-and-soft textures worked really well together 👍

One great thing about Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu Cheomdan: you can self-pack any leftover cutlet to take home! 🥡 Since the portions are generous, it's nice to be able to pack up what you couldn't finish rather than just leaving it behind!
