Soy pork with seasonal salad at Goyu, a Gyeongju Korean restaurant
In short
Goyu is a hanok-style Korean restaurant on Sajeong-ro along Hwangnidan-gil in Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do. On the last evening of a Gyeongju trip, the writer came with two children and ordered dwaeji kimchijjim (braised pork with kimchi) and ganjang jeyuk (soy-marinated stir-fried pork) with a seasonal salad, both with rice, for a total of 60,000 won. Baby chairs and baby spoons are ready and beef radish soup comes with the meal, so Goyu made an easy family dinner to end the trip.

On the last evening of our Gyeongju trip, we wanted a really good meal to send us off, and that's how we ended up at Goyu haha. We ate a lot of things on this trip, but nailing this final dinner too meant we got to wrap up the whole trip on a happy note '-'
When you're moving around with kids, the menu matters, but so does checking whether there's a baby chair and whether there's anything the kids can actually eat. If you're looking for a Hwangnidan-gil restaurant that welcomes kids, this is one I'd recommend.

Where to park for Goyu in Gyeongju
Since Goyu has no dedicated parking lot, I was a bit worried about parking at first, but we used the Poseok-ro public parking lot. It's about a 1-minute walk to the restaurant, so it wasn't a big hassle moving around with the kids!!

Inside Goyu: a hanok exterior with a modern interior
Goyu really nails the Gyeongju feel from the outside! The hanok (traditional Korean house) atmosphere is kept intact, while the inside is decorated cleanly and stylishly^^ We visited in the evening, and with the outdoor lighting on, the mood was excellent^^
Inside, wood-toned tables give an overall bright, tidy feel^^ It's a Korean restaurant, but it's not decorated in an overly traditional way — there's just enough modern sensibility mixed in that it would work fine as a date spot too~ The open kitchen structure kept it from feeling closed-in, and overall it left a clean, polished impression.

What we ordered at Goyu and what it cost
We ordered pork kimchijjim + rice, and soy pork with seasonal salad + rice. Both dishes require a minimum order of 2 servings, and our total that day came to ₩60,000^^ Oh, and at the very end haha, we suddenly craved cider (Korean lemon-lime soda) so we quickly ordered some too^^ We all clinked glasses and drank it together^^

Service at Goyu, down to the baby spoons
The staff were so thoughtful.. they brought out a baby spoon for us. I was totally touched♡

Beef radish soup and fresh cabbage kimchi the kids ate most
At Goyu, the soup that comes out is beef radish soup, and it turned out to be our kids' favorite soup ever.. it was so, so good haha. My older one mixed rice into it.. then ate more haha. My younger one downed two whole bowls of just this...ㅠㅠ haha honestly the kids ate it better than we did♡♡

The fresh-tossed cabbage salad that comes with it was sweet and tangy and just excellent +! Our kids ate it well too. Though it was a little spicy^^

Soy-marinated pork with seasonal salad: plenty of meat under the greens
How the soy-marinated pork tasted with rice
And the one I personally really loved: the soy pork (ganjang jeyuk) with seasonal salad. When the dish first arrived, the plate was piled high with vegetables so I thought "where's the meat?" haha, but underneath there was a generous amount of soy-marinated pork.
Eating the salty, slightly sweet soy pork together with the fresh vegetables wasn't greasy at all — they really went well together. Rather than just eating meat non-stop, having vegetables mixed in between made it feel much cleaner♡

What is Goyu's pork kimchi braise like?
First, the pork kimchijjim (pork and kimchi stew) that looked amazing from the start! It arrived loaded with chunky meat and well-braised kimchi, and the second it hit the table, a delicious smell hit us right away^^ We cut it up with scissors to make it easier to eat — the meat wasn't dry at all, it was tender, and eating it together with the kimchi was such a great combo~~
The kimchi was well-braised and soft, with the seasoning working its way into the meat. It wasn't just spicy for the sake of being spicy — more like the kind of flavor that keeps you reaching for more rice^^ Especially putting a piece of pork with kimchi on top of rice — that's just game over haha. Hard for any Korean to dislike that combo!!! There was a good amount of broth too, perfect for mixing lightly into the rice, and tofu was in there as well, making the whole dish really filling.

Why the two dishes are worth ordering together
Pork kimchijjim is spicy and rich, while soy pork is sweet and light, so ordering both together was truly a great choice!! I recommend it. One is red-seasoned and the other is soy-based, so the flavors didn't overlap at all, making it perfect to eat back and forth between the two.

How was dinner at Goyu with two kids?
Even the basic side dishes were well put together, so overall this was a Hwangnidan-gil restaurant where the whole meal felt satisfying^^ And when you're out with kids, staff service matters more than you'd think~~ The staff here were friendly and attentive, so we could eat comfortably!!
Dinner with two kids can often get chaotic, but with a baby chair, clean tables, and friendly staff, this place was a satisfying spot for a family meal.

There are so many restaurants on Hwangnidan-gil that it's honestly hard to decide where to go, but if you like Korean food, this is a place worth trying^^ Especially if you've been eating spicy dishes and snacks nonstop while traveling, having a proper Korean meal like this at the end is really nice!! We came here as our dinner spot on the last night of the trip and left having eaten so, so well.

You know that feeling when the last meal of a trip is delicious, and somehow the whole trip ends up remembered more fondly because of it haha. That's exactly what this place was for our family. Just park at the Poseok-ro public parking lot and walk about a minute — no need to worry too much about there being no dedicated lot.
A clean atmosphere, delicious Korean food, a baby chair, and friendly staff to top it off! If you're looking for a Hwangnidan-gil restaurant to visit with kids, give Goyu a try^^ It's the Hwangnidan-gil restaurant that let our family wrap up the last dinner of our Gyeongju trip on a delicious note, and we left satisfied!
