Kid-friendly hotpot restaurant in Nampo-dong, Busan: Sacheon Hwogwa

Wanting something a bit different to eat in Nampo-dong, Busan, I went looking for lamb skewer restaurants and landed on Sacheon Hwogwa Yangkkochi Nampo Branch, one of the spots that kept coming up. It's a place where you can enjoy both hotpot and lamb skewers together, which made for a fun meal for my family since we were craving something out of the ordinary :)

What the Nampo-dong jokbal alley restaurant feels like inside

The restaurant is located right in the Jokbal Alley of Nampo-dong. You can already spot the all-you-can-eat lamb skewer and hotpot signage from the entrance, so even first-time visitors immediately know what kind of place it is :)

Once inside, the restaurant was bigger than I expected. Everything was neatly arranged overall, and there were plenty of tables, which made it look good for family meals as well as gatherings with friends. It seemed like a decent spot for a company dinner too :)

Once seated, you can enjoy both lamb skewers and hotpot right at the table. There were three of us, so we ordered half red broth, half white broth, and picked the mildest spice level for the hotpot.

The lamb skewers are grilled yourself over the charcoal set into the table, so there's also the fun of watching them turn golden brown as they cook :) If you're looking for a lamb skewer restaurant in Busan, this kind of hands-on grilling adds to the experience beyond just the taste. There were several types of skewers to choose from, not just one, so you could pick according to your taste. Personally, I liked the slightly spicy seasoned skewers best among the options :)

Skewers grilled over charcoal taste best eaten right away while still warm haha. If you're a fan of lamb skewers, you'd probably enjoy grabbing a little of each variety and grilling them one by one.

What's on the all-you-can-eat bar?

The meat corner for the hotpot had not just lamb but also pork and beef prepared. If you usually stick to just one type of meat when eating lamb skewers or hotpot, it was nice being able to grab a little of several kinds to try 😊

Beyond the meat, there were plenty of ingredients to add to the hotpot too — vegetables, various tofu noodles, and more — so we picked out ingredients to our taste and tried a good variety haha. Each of us picking what we wanted to eat and adding it in made for a more fun meal overall.

The fried rice was seasoned just salty enough to work as a proper meal alongside the meat or hotpot :) Going from lamb skewers to hotpot to fried rice, these are the kinds of dishes that naturally make you think of a drink alongside the meal haha. So it seems like a good spot to come with friends, eat this and that, and chat, and since we came as a family, the variety of dishes made it easy to pick what everyone wanted. If several of you come together for lamb skewers and hotpot, it'd be good for grabbing a bit of everything and sharing. Near the entrance, there was also ice cream ready for after the meal.

After eating our fill of warm lamb skewers and hotpot, finishing off with ice cream was the perfect way to cleanse the palate :)

Final verdict after dinner for a family of three

This time we visited as a family of three, and being able to eat both lamb skewers and hotpot together meant we could enjoy a wider variety of dishes than expected. In particular, since there was chicken, pork, and beef alongside the lamb, anyone who isn't a fan of lamb could still choose other options if they came along, and since you pick your own hotpot ingredients, we got to try a few things we don't usually eat haha.

If you're looking for a lamb skewer restaurant in Busan and want to have both skewers and hotpot in Nampo-dong, Sacheon Hwogwa Yangkkochi Nampo Branch seems like a solid choice :) We came as a family this time, but I think it'd also be nice to come with friends next time, sit around the skewers and hotpot, and take our time chatting over the meal :) haha
