Nampo-dong gopchang bar, 5pm Friday folding-door seat: Bupyeong Yang

I've got a yang gopchang place I go to all the time, and with fall coming on I made sure to swing by quickly. I think even people who usually only eat salt-grilled yang gopchang will be really happy here, so that's why I'm writing this up. Hope this helps anyone looking for a Nampo-dong bar with that cooler-weather outdoor-annex vibe. Let's get into it.

Friday 5pm at Bupyeong Yang Gopchang: a folding-door seat instead of the outdoor tables

Bupyeong Yang Gopchang is a yang gopchang spot at 17 Bupyeong 2-gil, Jung-gu, Busan. I got there Friday at 5pm and the outdoor annex tables weren't set up yet, so I sat right by the folding doors instead.

There were a lot of celebrity autographs on the wall too.

Here's the menu for reference. They had bunmoja sari (glass noodle sari) too — I'll have to try adding that to the stone-pan seasoned gopchang next time.

It was a shame there were no outdoor annex seats yet, but there was air conditioning and I got a great spot right by the folding doors.

This seat's not bad either, right? haha

There was even a how-to-eat guide posted on the wall.

What comes with the meal, doenjang stew included

The basic table setting at Bupyeong Yang Gopchang came with wet wipes, salad, fresh kimchi, pickled onion, chili, ssamjang, tofu, pickled radish, and even doenjang stew.

Utensils were already set at each table.

Small stone-pan seasoned gopchang, 40,000 won: enough for two with sides

I ordered the small stone-pan seasoned gopchang (₩40,000). I was thinking about the medium size, but since udon sari and fried rice are basically mandatory with the seasoned gopchang, once I added the sari the small was just right for two people.

Apparently if you visit on a weekday, red bean shaved ice (patbingsu) comes free.

What time do you need to arrive for an outdoor seat at Bupyeong Yang Gopchang?

Around 5:02pm, the outdoor annex seats started getting set up. If you want one, coming around 5:05pm should get you seated right away. Setting up the tables takes a bit of time too, haha.

The staff grill the gopchang for you

At Bupyeong Yang Gopchang, a staff member grills the meat for you. Even looking at these photos now, it looks so good...

Man, with weather this nice lately, it'd be a waste not to sit outside in the annex, right? And gopchang on top of that just makes it even better.

Adding udon noodles and fried rice

The udon sari makes its appearance. Honestly the udon sari is the real highlight here. You have to order it, no question.

And of course the fried rice can't be skipped either?? It's the kind of flavor you just keep eating, haha.

Table spacing and how crowded Friday evening gets

The tables weren't packed too close together, so it was easy to chat. And with the folding doors open, it really does feel open, doesn't it? Looking back now, by the time I paid and left (around 6pm Friday) the place was almost completely full.

By the time it got close to 8pm, there was quite a wait. When I left around 6pm, there was still maybe one open outdoor annex seat. Seems like a lot of people come here after work. Honestly this place is already pretty famous and I go here a lot, so I'm sure plenty of you already know it, but with weather like this it felt like such a good choice, which is why I wrote this up. It's also near the currently trending Bukhang Shark (Bukhangi) area, haha. How about a glass of soju with your yang gopchang now that it's cooled down?

The visit in short

• A great spot in Nampo-dong to enjoy the outdoor annex atmosphere along with yang gopchang — having staff grill the meat for you made it easy to just relax and eat.
• The small stone-pan seasoned gopchang plus udon sari and fried rice was just the right amount for two people — the udon sari especially is a must-order!
• Fridays get busy from around 6pm onward, with waits building up by around 8pm, so if you want an outdoor annex seat, I'd recommend arriving a bit early.
