On weekend mornings I always want to start a little slower than usual, you know? So this weekend I went to Songjeong for brunch. Today I'm introducing Just Chilling Songjeong.

I thought it might be a brunch-only spot, but they also serve pasta and wine, so the vibe probably shifts quite a bit from morning to evening. I visited around 10am, and at that hour there weren't many customers, so I got to enjoy a quiet brunch. If you want to come alone and take your time over brunch, this early slot seems good.

Finding Just Chilling in the Songjeong back alleys

Walking into the alley where Just Chilling sits, it really felt like Songjeong. With so many surf shops clustered nearby, there was almost a vacation-resort mood to it. It was pretty windy that day, so there were already surfers out on the water in the morning. Soaking up that laid-back Songjeong atmosphere, I headed in for brunch~

There's an outdoor terrace set up in front of the store, with colorful chairs and tables that gave it a cute vibe. On a nice day, it'd be great to sit outside and enjoy brunch. Dogs are welcome too, apparently, so it could be a good option for anyone bringing their pup out to Songjeong. It's also close to Songjeong Beach, so it's a good spot for a walk before or after eating.
What Just Chilling looks like at 10am on a weekend

Stepping inside, the same mood from the exterior carried through. Rather than feeling overly decorated, the space felt comfortable and natural. Sunlight poured in through the big windows, and the tables weren't packed too close together, so it was nice to sit and relax.

Maybe because we arrived at 10am, the store was pretty quiet. If you want to eat somewhere calm, away from the crowds, try visiting a bit earlier.
A photo-album style menu

One thing that stuck with me about Just Chilling was the menu. At first I wondered why there was what looked like a photo album on the table — turns out it really was a menu made like a photo album, with actual pictures of the dishes.

You flip through it page by page to look at the menu, and with handwritten notes added in, it really felt like Just Chilling's own personal touch, even in a small detail like this. Choosing what to order was oddly fun.
Just Chilling menu and prices

There were way more menu options than I expected. From steak and brunch to risotto, pasta, and salads, there were plenty of choices.
- Chimichurri Steak ₩26,000
- Egg in Hell ₩19,000
- British Plate ₩15,900

The wine list was pretty extensive too, so this place seems great not just for brunch but also for an evening visit with pasta and wine. Wine corkage is available too, so if you love wine, an evening visit could be worth it. I don't really drink wine so that part was a bit of a pity for me, but I was very curious about the pasta haha.
Chimichurri steak, 26,000 won

The first dishes to arrive were the chimichurri steak and the egg in hell. Placed side by side, the colors alone were gorgeous. They say you should eat protein and veggies first to avoid a blood sugar spike, right? So naturally, I started with the steak haha.

The steak came with salad, carrots, roasted tomato, and garlic, so it worked well as a brunch dish too. In particular, the house-made fresh basil sauce really suited my taste. It had a fresh aroma that cut right through the richness of the beef, making it hard to stop eating. The roasted garlic and tomato were also great mixed in between bites of meat.

I tried piling a generous scoop of the sauce onto a piece of meat like this. The fragrant, bright flavor paired so well with the beef that I kept going back for more. I finished it in no time haha.
Egg in hell, 19,000 won

Next up, egg in hell~ Egg and cheese sitting on top of a fiery red tomato sauce looked delicious just from the visuals. There were two eggs, so we shared one each haha. The bread that came with it was toasted nice and crispy, perfect for dipping into the sauce.

Piling shrimp and soft egg onto the bread and topping it with plenty of the savory tomato sauce made for a delicious combination. Crispy bread, moist egg, and springy shrimp all together gave it great texture too. It was a tiring weekend and I wasn't fully awake yet, but one bite of this woke me right up haha. I'd recommend loading up plenty of sauce onto the bread with egg in hell.
British plate, 15,900 won

The British plate, which I'd agonized between ordering and the pasta, came out next. It was a plate packed with everything you'd expect from a classic brunch — scrambled eggs, ham, sausage, bacon, cheese, salad, and bread, so I liked getting to try a little bit of everything. The scrambled eggs were cooked so soft that they went great with the bread.

Piling cheese, ham, and scrambled egg onto the bread along with some salad made for a pretty hearty bite haha. It's a menu where you get to have fun mixing and matching whatever you like. If I came for brunch alone, I think I'd go for this one too — with so much variety on one plate, it'd be pretty filling on its own.
Next visit: pasta at Just Chilling
Honestly, Just Chilling has a wide range of pasta too, so I was torn while ordering. From black tiger shrimp aglio olio to classic carbonara and myeongran (pollock roe) cream varieties, the more I looked at the menu, the more curious I got about the pasta. But since brunch was the plan for the day, I went with the brunch menu. Looking back after eating, I got even more curious haha. Next time I want to come in the evening and order pasta. If you love wine, pairing it with pasta sounds great too.
Brunch and a walk along Songjeong Beach
After finishing brunch, feeling nice and full, I went to see Songjeong Beach.

It was quite windy that day so the waves were pretty decent, and I could see plenty of surfers out on the water. Coming to Songjeong and just taking in a view like this really changes your mood. Looking at the sea, then having a delicious brunch, then just taking your time — Songjeong really suits that kind of relaxed weekend.
Just Chilling fit right in with that distinct Songjeong atmosphere too. You can enjoy brunch in the morning and pasta with wine in the evening, so visiting at different times of day for different vibes sounds like a good idea. Next time I want to stop by again for that pasta I couldn't stop thinking about. If you're the type who wants to walk along Songjeong Beach and enjoy a leisurely brunch, I'd say take it easy and enjoy a weekend brunch at Just Chilling Songjeong~
