Myeongdong wood-fired pizza lunch: quattro formaggi at Seventy Four

I came out to Myeongdong for a date with my mom and stopped by Seventy Four, a place I used to go for lunch a lot before I took a leave from work. Since it's inside the Myeongdong Cathedral building, it's perfect for eating here and then strolling around the cathedral grounds.

The weather was so nice. A crisp, clear autumn day! Maybe that's why the red brick cathedral building looked even more stylish. There were also a ton of tourists out enjoying Myeongdong, so the terrace seating at Seventy Four was completely full. I saw a lot of foreign customers too. It really does have the feel of a restaurant terrace you'd see in Europe, haha.

It would've been even nicer to eat on the terrace with the clear skies, but the indoor seats had a good atmosphere and were comfortable too, so I didn't mind much. Still, next time I'll try to book a terrace seat in advance~

Inside Seventy Four: quiet tables just after 1pm

There's quite a lot of seating inside Seventy Four too. Maybe because we came a little after 1pm, all the office workers had cleared out and it was quiet.

What else is on the Seventy Four menu: steak and drinks

I usually come for lunch and get pizza and pasta, but looking at the menu, they also have steak dishes. It seems like it would be a great spot for an anniversary date too.

There's also a big drinks menu, so quite a few customers come just for drinks outside meal times. With the great location and the nice atmosphere, it holds up perfectly well as a café too.

How is the quattro formaggi wood-fired pizza?

The quattro formaggi pizza is a wood-fired pizza where you can enjoy four kinds of cheese, and the savory cheese smell hit my nose first. Since it's made fresh right at the restaurant, the cheese was warm and the flavor was so alive, it was so good! Bread-type dishes really are best eaten right after they're made!! The dough wasn't too thick either and was so tasty that the two of us slowly finished the whole pizza. I thought I'd be too full to finish it, but it was so good I just kept eating..haha

It wasn't a strong or intense flavor, so it seemed like it would be good for kids to eat too. I thought I should bring my first child along on our next Myeongdong outing.

Ragu pasta with the pizza: does the pairing work?

Worried the cheese pizza might be too rich, I ordered the tomato-based ragu pasta, and it had that deep, rich characteristic ragu flavor without being too salty, so it was delicious. Like the pizza, it wasn't intense and had almost no spiciness, so it seemed like a dish kids could eat fine too. Eating the cheese pizza and ragu pasta together, they complemented each other well, so the combo of the two dishes was great.

When I used to come during my work lunch break, I'd basically slurp the food down(?) with barely any time to savor it, but eating leisurely now that I'm on leave, it felt even more delicious. Chatting away with my mom, the time just flew by, haha.

A walk around Myeongdong Cathedral after lunch

After eating, we went straight to Myeongdong Cathedral right next door for a stroll. Myeongdong Cathedral has lots of trees and a gorgeous building, so it's really nice to walk around when the weather's good~ It has that feel of a little garden in the middle of the city. Now that I'm on leave, it looks even prettier to me^^ haha

Is Seventy Four Myeongdong Cathedral worth a visit?

Seventy Four has delicious food, a clean restaurant, and lets you stroll through Myeongdong Cathedral afterward, so it's a really great place to refresh your mood. There are plenty of other good restaurants in Myeongdong, but when you factor in the stylish atmosphere and the location, there's nowhere quite like it! It's great for a couple's date and also great for a family outing, so I recommend it :)
