I was craving spicy Korean food for dinner — something hearty but simple — so I headed to 1992 Deopbap & Jjageuli!
Where is 1992 Deopbap & Jjageuli Gangnam Main Branch, and which Gangnam Station exit?

Solo seats and group tables inside 1992 Deopbap
Inside, there were seats that were good for eating alone, plus several tables where multiple people could sit together, so you could use the space comfortably depending on the situation! It seemed like it would suit everyone from office workers eating solo during lunch to those coming with coworkers, haha.

There were seats for eating alone,

and there were also several tables for groups, so it seemed like a good spot for a team of coworkers to visit together!
1992 Deopbap menu and prices

Looking at the menu, there was a wide range from jjageuli to rice bowls to bibimbap, so it seemed easy to pick according to your taste!

I ordered the beef brisket doenjang jjageuli and the meat-loaded jjageuli, both in the spicy version, haha. The dishes came out faster than I expected, so the meal didn't drag on — I felt it would be fine to visit even during a busy lunch hour!
Banchan at 1992 Deopbap: kimchi, dried radish, radish stir-fry

Along with the jjageuli, the basic side dishes were kimchi, dried radish, and radish stir-fry. The banchan matched the jjageuli well, so they were great alongside rice, haha. Especially the crunchy, chewy dried radish perked up the appetite when eaten with the spicy jjageuli! I'd recommend this combo.

Sesame oil and gim (seaweed flakes) also came out, and mixing a little of the jjageuli in with rice, sesame oil and gim was the best 👍👍
Meat-loaded jjageuli in the spicy version

The meat-loaded jjageuli lived up to its name, with plenty of meat packed in, so it was great when I wanted a hearty meal, haha. The seasoning was spicy but paired well with rice, and scooping up the meat and jjageuli together was delicious! Neither dish was aggressively spicy on its own — the heat felt balanced when eaten with rice, so it was easy to enjoy without feeling overwhelmed! I'd recommend getting the spicy version.

I also liked that sesame oil, gim, and a fried egg came out with the jjageuli, haha. Putting the fried egg on top of the jjageuli and mixing it with rice, then eating it with gim, gave it a different feel. Adding a bit of sesame oil brought up a nutty aroma that went really well with the jjageuli, haha.
What does the beef brisket doenjang jjageuli taste like?

The beef brisket doenjang jjageuli had that savory doenjang (fermented soybean paste) flavor plus spicy seasoning, making it just right with rice! There was really a lot of beef brisket in it too, giving off a nutty richness, and mixing the jjageuli broth into the rice made a bowl of rice disappear fast, haha. I wanted to eat two bowls but I was too full, ugh. Ordering it spicy kept it from feeling greasy and really woke up my appetite, so I'd recommend this dish~~~

What I liked most was the variety of the menu! Besides jjageuli, there were rice bowls, bibimbap, and more, so it felt like a good place for office workers to eat solo during their lunch break. (When I visited, a lot of people were eating alone too!) The dishes come out quickly, so it seems good even for a lunch break without much spare time, haha. It also seems fine to visit alone for dinner after finishing work. With the variety of menu items, you can pick whatever you feel like eating, and it was more than enough for a filling meal~~
Verdict on 1992 Deopbap near Gangnam Station
By the way, if you take part in the review event you can get a free drink too, so if you visit, it's worth checking the event details after ordering!! Overall, this was a place where you can eat quickly while still having a wide range of menu choices, and where you can eat jjageuli and rice until you're full — it suited both a workday lunch and a dinner spot after getting off work. Next time I'd like to try one of the other rice bowl menus too!
