Hi, this is Jinju 🤗 Today I took my husband — whose favorite foods are jjageuli (bubbling stew) and pork bulgogi rice bowls — to 1992 Deopbap & Jjageuli Gangnam Main Branch for lunch, and it was so good I wanted to share it with you.

It was about a 2-minute walk from Exit 3 of Gangnam Station. Being so close to the subway station made it very accessible, and the sign was visible from far away so we found it quickly. There's no parking at 1992 Deopbap & Jjageuli Gangnam Main Branch, but you can use the nearby public parking lots.

Inside the restaurant: bar seats made for solo diners

The interior of 1992 Deopbap & Jjageuli Gangnam Main Branch has a traditional feel with a tiled-roof house motif and a water wheel, plus quite a lot of bar seating that makes it great for solo diners. The 2- and 4-person tables extended far back into the space, so it felt roomy even for the two of us.

The storefront sign already had that tiled-roof-house accent, and once we walked inside, the traditional atmosphere really hit. They even had a water wheel inside, which was pretty fascinating. Since a lot of solo diners come to 1992 Deopbap & Jjageuli Gangnam Main Branch, there were quite a lot of bar seats, plus 2-person and 4-person tables... the place went surprisingly deep and wide.

There are outdoor tables too, so on a nice day it'd be great to sit outside and eat. There's also a group seating area toward the back of the restaurant, sectioned off like a private room with curtains. The restroom is inside the store as well, which was convenient and impressively clean.

1992 Deopbap & Jjageuli Gangnam Main Branch runs on a self-service system where you order and prepay via kiosk. When your food is ready, your number shows up on the monitor, you pick it up after checking the number, and once you're done eating, you return your dishes to the return counter.

I liked that I could just select and pay right away without having to call a staff member over.

When your food is ready, your number pops up on the monitor, and you go grab it at the pickup counter once you've confirmed the number. When you're finished, you just return everything to the dish return spot, which was super convenient. They even had hair ties, toothpicks, wet wipes, candy, and mouthwash ready — nice touch 👍🏻

Solo meat set 15,900 won and sausage-loaded jjageuli 14,000 won

We ordered the solo meat set for ₩15,900 and the sausage-packed jjageuli for ₩14,000. The solo meat set comes with side dishes + a meat set + kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) + rice, and you get to choose one of three types of meat, plus either steamed egg or kimchi jjigae.

The meat set came grilled together with kkwarigochu (shishito peppers), onion, scallions, and mushrooms, so I got to eat vegetables alongside the meat, which made it even more satisfying 🍖

The sausage-packed jjageuli came with side dishes and rice topped with a fried egg, plus sesame oil, dried seaweed flakes, ham, potato, and a generous amount of tofu — spicy and delicious. They served the jjageuli in a big bowl, and mixing it with the egg, sesame oil, and seaweed flakes was absolutely amazing.

Price, taste, atmosphere, menu lineup — everything was satisfying at 1992 Deopbap & Jjageuli Gangnam Main Branch, and I could see exactly why people keep coming back. The neat full-spread meal with sides and a clean main dish, all based on traditional Jeolla-do cooking methods, meant the taste was guaranteed and the price felt fair too.
