The Jeolla-style yukhoe (raw beef) rice bowl and the fully loaded jjageuli cost 13,500 won each, and the steamed egg that comes with the yukhoe rice bowl was swapped for kimchi jjigae to alternate with the spicy raw beef. Traditional interior decorated with a spinning wheel and pine trees

From the big spinning wheel to the stone and pine trees, the traditional feel was really vivid throughout. You don't see interiors like this in Gangnam much these days! I came looking for a Korean restaurant near Gangnam Station, and the space itself had such a Korean feel that my expectations for the food went up naturally 💕 o( ̄▽ ̄)o

Menu and prices: Jeolla-style yukhoe rice bowl and fully loaded jjageuli, 13,500 won each

The menu at 1992 Deopbap & Jjageuli Gangnam Main Branch had a wide range of options, from rice bowls to bibimbap to jjageuli. We ordered the BEST menu items — the Jeolla-style yukhoe rice bowl and the fully-loaded jjageuli — both ₩13,500.

There were more menu options than I expected. Considering the price of a lunch near Gangnam Station and everything you get, it was quite reasonable! ( •̀ ω •́ )✧

What comes in the fully loaded jjageuli at 1992 Deopbap & Jjageuli

A pot of fully-loaded jjageuli packed with ingredients

First up, the fully-loaded jjageuli! It really lives up to its name haha. Loads of meat, loads of tofu, plenty of zucchini and all sorts of other ingredients packed in generously.

Close-up of the spicy jjageuli broth and tofu

The broth was rich and spicy — exactly the kind of flavor that makes you crave rice 🔥 It's tasty enough to just spoon up on its own, but that's not where it ends!

Mixing the rice bowl with sesame oil

A bowl of rice topped with egg, seaweed, and sesame oil

The rice comes with egg and seaweed on the side, plus sesame oil served separately. So I drizzled on the sesame oil and mixed it with the egg and seaweed. Then I put a spoonful of jjageuli on top... (っ˘ڡ˘ς) There's no resisting that haha.

The nutty sesame oil rice paired incredibly well with the spicy jjageuli 💕 The rice was soft and fragrant, which balanced perfectly with the jjageuli's bold seasoning. If you're looking for a Korean restaurant near Gangnam Station, I really hope you try this combo ⭐

How the Jeolla-style yukhoe rice bowl tastes

Full table setting with the Jeolla-style yukhoe rice bowl

And then the Jeolla-style yukhoe rice bowl I'd been looking forward to! The look of it alone was on point. It comes loaded with yukhoe (raw seasoned beef), scallion strips, cabbage, seaweed, and a fried egg all in one bowl 💕

The yukhoe itself is seasoned spicy, and when you mix everything with the rice and vegetables, you get that crunch from the veggies and the chewy texture of the beef all at once! ☆: .。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:☆

A spoonful of the mixed spicy yukhoe rice bowl

The moment I took a bite, I couldn't help but think — ah... I guess Jeolla-do really does have the best food haha.

Why swap the steamed egg for kimchi jjigae?

The yukhoe rice bowl at 1992 Deopbap normally comes with steamed egg, but that day I was really craving kimchi jjigae, so I swapped it out haha.

That choice was such a good call 💕 When the yukhoe rice bowl got a bit too spicy, I'd take a spoonful of kimchi jjigae broth along with some tofu, and — ah, that feeling!! (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ You know exactly what I mean haha.

Well-fermented kimchi and large chunks of tofu in the jjigae

The kimchi was well fermented, giving the broth a refreshing yet punchy flavor. The tofu was cut in big chunks too, which was great to eat alongside. For a lunch near Gangnam Station, this was quite filling ⭐

Service and small touches until you leave

After finishing the meal, on my way out I noticed they had candy and mouthwash ready! Little details like that are so nice haha. After eating Korean food, being able to freshen up before leaving made the whole visit end on a good note 💕 ♪(^∇^*)
