Today I went to Obongjip Samseong Branch, famous as a Samseong Station restaurant, and I'm bringing back a review of the Obongjip Special that lets you enjoy stir-fried octopus, bossam and makguksu noodles all on one table haha
It's often mentioned as a Samseong Station restaurant and a COEX-area restaurant too, so I figured a lot of people would be curious — so I put together everything from location to menu to taste in detail.
Where is Obongjip Samseong Branch, and is there parking?
Obongjip Samseong Branch is on the 1st floor of 62 Teheran-ro 81-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. There's no dedicated store parking lot. The nearest paid parking is Samseong-dong First Parking Tower nearby.
What kind of restaurant is Obongjip Samseong Branch?

Obongjip is a Korean food brand known for its menu combining stir-fried octopus and bossam.

The Samseong branch has a spacious hall that fits up to 75 people plus a 15-person group room, so I found it's also a popular spot for Samseong Station work dinners.

On days when you want to try several Korean dishes at once among Samseong Station restaurants

this is exactly the kind of combo this place pushes, so I went in with high expectations.
How busy is Obongjip at 7:30pm on a weekday?
The moment I walked in.. so~ many people haha
I went around 7:30pm on a weekday and the tables were almost completely full.
The spacing between tables isn't super wide, but the tables themselves are big so eating wasn't uncomfortable at all.
There's a separate self-serve bar, so if you're short on banchan you can grab more yourself, and there are plenty of dishes too.

This seaweed soup in particular was really fresh and piping hot, with that homemade taste — I loved it.

There are group seats and a room too, so it looked like a popular lunch or work-dinner spot for office workers looking for a Samseong-dong restaurant.

The country-of-origin labels were also clearly marked, so extra peace of mind haha

Ordering is easy — just use the kiosk!
Obongjip Special at 62,000 won: enough for two?
It's a menu that brings out stir-fried octopus, bossam and makguksu noodles all at once, so it was perfect for a day when I wanted to eat a bit of everything.
Rather than ordering just one dish, being able to share several foods made it a combo I'd recommend to anyone struggling to decide what to order at a Samseong Station restaurant.
The portion was plenty for two people to share, and between the spicy octopus stir-fry, the mild bossam and the tangy makguksu, nothing was lacking.
The banchan and self-serve seaweed soup
The side dishes were generous from the start!
Seaweed soup plus my favorite seasoned stir-fried sausage~ haha
From white kimchi to various braised bean sprouts, it was a lineup that went well mixed into the octopus stir-fry or rice.
Bossam (boiled pork with wraps)
The bossam was so tender first of all.
It was boiled soft with no off odor, so it was a perfect match to eat between bites of the spicy octopus stir-fry!
The bossam kimchi and pickled radish were also really fresh.

Topped with kimchi and pickled radish, it was honey-sweet..!!

If you keep eating only spicy food you can get tired of it fast, but pairing in bossam between bites made the flavor combo great.
Tray makguksu (chilled buckwheat noodles)

The makguksu, with its sweet-and-tangy sauce, did a great job of cleaning the palate.
The sauce color looked really deep, but when actually eaten it wasn't that strong a seasoning, which I liked.
Put on the disposable gloves and shake it up properly~
After eating the octopus stir-fry or bossam, taking a chopstick-full of makguksu

completely resets your palate so your hand keeps going back for more hahaha

The makguksu can get soggy, so it's best to eat it quickly haha
Fire-grilled stir-fried octopus
True to its 'grilled' name, the smoky char that hit my nose the moment it landed on the table was great.
Look at the octopus..!! It was super springy.

I ordered the regular spice level, and the sauce was moderately spicy with rich umami that soaked in well,

a taste that kept pulling my chopsticks back no matter how much I ate haha
Of course you have to mix it with rice — sprinkle on the seaweed flakes, add the octopus too

and mixed in with the bean sprouts too, the crunchy texture makes it even more delicious, love it♥

The octopus texture was really good too.
Eating it with rice made it filling and great for an energy boost~ haha
