No parking, no 6pm wait at Namcheon Korean BBQ Geobugi Dongne, Busan

Today I'm sharing my visit to Geobugi Dongne Namcheon Branch, since I was craving meat in Namcheon-dong. It's right in front of Namcheon Station, so it was super easy to find (๑꙾ ༥ ꙾๑)

How to walk to Geobugi Dongne from Namcheon Station Exit 1

Geobugi Dongne Namcheon Branch is on the 1st floor of 414 Suyeong-ro, Suyeong-gu, Busan, straight ahead from Namcheon Station Exit 1. It's close to the station, so it's convenient to reach by public transit, and it seemed like a good option if you're looking around the area for somewhere to eat.

We visited a little after 6pm, and luckily we could get seated right away.

Inside, the place was bigger and cleaner than I expected. The tables were neatly arranged, and there were tables of friends, couples, and families all eating together.

What comes in the couple set: four pork cuts, 500g, plus mushrooms

Geobugi Dongne Namcheon Branch's couple set comes with 200g pork belly, 100g pork neck, 100g pork jowl, and 100g gabrisal, along with assorted mushrooms. Whenever I go out for meat, I always debate between pork belly and pork neck, so this time we ordered the couple set to try several cuts at once.

(Ordering is done via kiosk!) What I liked most was being able to try a little bit of each cut. Rather than eating just one kind of meat the whole time, each cut had a slightly different texture and flavor, which made it great for two people to share.

We grilled each type of meat one by one to try.

The pork belly had a good amount of fat and was savory, while the pork neck was leaner, so switching between the two never got boring. The pork jowl and gabrisal each had a different texture too, which made it fun to compare cut by cut.

One thing I personally loved was that assorted mushrooms came with the set. There was a nice variety of mushrooms, and since they were grilled together with the meat on the pan, they picked up that meaty flavor and tasted great. Grilling mushrooms in between the meat added variety in texture, and I kept reaching for more.

You can't eat meat without ssam (lettuce wraps)!! We put meat and mushrooms on lettuce leaves with various extras, and it was fun comparing how my friend and I each wrapped ours a little differently.

What is at the self-serve corner?

Geobugi Dongne Namcheon Branch has a self-serve corner set up, so it was convenient to grab whatever banchan (side dishes) or vegetables we wanted, in whatever amount we needed.

The self-serve bar was kept clean overall, with not just vegetables but also ham, tofu, onions and other ingredients ready to go. At BBQ places I often want a bit more of the basic side dishes but feel awkward asking staff repeatedly — having a self-serve bar like this meant I could just help myself as much as I wanted.

I also liked that there was a wide variety of dipping sauces prepared.

Doenjang-jjigae and freshly cooked cauldron rice

After eating a good amount of meat, we also tried the doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) we'd ordered. What I especially liked was that there was a separate station for keeping the stew simmering and hot. Stew is always a bit of a letdown once it cools down, so being able to eat it hot made it great to enjoy slowly alongside the meat.

One of the menu items I was most looking forward to this time was the freshly made cauldron rice. It always feels incomplete to skip rice when eating meat, so we ordered the cauldron rice too, served in the pot so it stayed hot. Topping it with a piece of meat and eating it together really confirmed that this combo is perfect at a BBQ restaurant.

Once we finished the rice, we could pour water into the pot over the leftover crispy rice at the bottom to make sungnyung (scorched rice tea). From meat to rice to sungnyung, it was a satisfying way to finish off the whole meal.

And at the end, there was even nostalgic cone ice cream on hand. We were too full to have any this time, but apparently you can take it to go.

Having a little something to cleanse the palate after all that meat made me think this would work well for a family visit too. Families with kids especially would probably love being able to grab ice cream to take home after the meal.

Is Geobugi Dongne Namcheon Branch worth it for two?

If you're looking for a place in Namcheon-dong to try pork belly or a variety of cuts, Geobugi Dongne Namcheon Branch is worth a visit. It's especially good if you want to share several cuts with a friend or partner — ordering the couple set lets you taste a bit of everything.
