Seongdong Korean restaurant for pork gomtang: Dwaeji Gomtang House
In short
Dwaeji Gomtang House is a Korean restaurant inside Musinsa Mega Store in Seongdong, Seoul. I tried the clear and spicy pork gomtang set meals by the window, with generous meat, barley rice, and memorable gochuji sauce. Verdict: an easy stop for a warm, trendy take on gomtang.

A gomtang (Korean beef-style soup) spot that is easy to drop by in Seongsu-dong, inside the Musinsa building so it fits right into a shopping route—a clean Korean restaurant where dining alone feels completely comfortable.

Today, while looking for a good gomtang spot in Seongsu-dong, I visited the Musinsa Mega Store branch, which has been quietly getting popular with Seongsu office workers lately!! As the weather got subtly chilly, I started craving warm soup, but this did not feel like an ordinary gomtang restaurant—it had that trendy, modern Korean restaurant kind of vibe!

Inside the Musinsa building, right on a shopping route
Since it is inside the Musinsa building, it was not difficult to find!! Maybe because it is new, everything from the exterior felt clean and full of that distinct, current Seongsu mood~ Its location is a real plus: have a meal, then continue straight on with shopping!!

A bright, tidy setting that is easy for solo diners
I was a little surprised when I walked in because it was brighter and tidier than expected!! Rather than the cozy, weighty feeling typical of a gomtang place, it felt trendy, light, and clean, so coming alone would not feel awkward at all. There were actually seats set up nicely for solo diners too!! I sat by the window, and having a warm bowl while looking outside felt so nice, haha.

Here are the notice board and service area~ Even the cups were so pretty, haha.

Clear and spicy gomtang set meals
The menu was not complicated, which actually made it easier to choose.

The spicy gomtang set was ₩16,000 and the clear gomtang set was ₩15,000. I was curious about both, so I ordered one of each.

Generous meat and barley rice
As soon as the bowls came out, I saw the amount of meat and went, oh…!! There was much more meat and rice than I expected, so even one bowl was very filling!!
The meat was truly soft and tender, with a slight smoky char coming through, and the flavor was just so good!! It is pork, yet it has this oddly deep flavor that feels different from beef gomtang, haha.

The gochuji sauce I remembered most
What I remembered most here was the gochuji sauce, a pickled chili sauce!! It is tasty on its own, but adding a little to the meat makes the flavor come alive even more!! It is such an addictive pairing that I kept putting it on my rice and ate it like that almost the whole time, haha.

Which I preferred: clear or spicy gomtang
The clear gomtang is mild and clean, the kind where you keep sipping the broth itself!!
The spicy gomtang has a good kick, so I kept spooning it up without it ever feeling rich; if I had to choose, the spicy one was more my taste. The rice was not just plain white rice either—it had a little barley mixed in, giving it a better texture and making it an even better match when mixed into the soup!!
- Great view, haha—a Seongsu street view~
- Generous meat makes for a hearty meal
- The gochuji sauce pairing is addictive, haha
- The restaurant is clean and comfortable for solo dining
- Being in the Musinsa building means you can browse after eating
- The price point is a little high
I stopped by casually while looking for a Korean restaurant in Seongsu, and this trendy, modern take on gomtang stayed with me as something a little different, haha. On a day when you want a warm bowl of soup!! It is an easy place to pop into without any pressure.
