Uijeongbu sundaeguk with kiosk topping choices: Yetnal Gyeongseong
In short
Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch is a newly opened sundaeguk (pork and blood sausage soup) restaurant in Nokyang-dong, Uijeongbu, near Eulji University Hospital. At weekday lunch the writer ordered the spicy sundaeguk set and a basic sundaeguk, and the table kiosk let them pick toppings — no sundae, no head meat, intestines only — without telling the staff. The spicy bowl was the sharpest sundaeguk the writer has tried, while the broth itself stayed clean and free of any gamey smell.

What kind of restaurant is Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch?
Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch
From the name alone it sounds like an old-school institution, but it turns out Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk actually started back in 2017 in the sundae alley of Yongin Jungang Market. Starting out among some serious old-timer sundaeguk shops, it became known for a clean broth with no gamey smell and generous portions — and now it's opened a new branch in Nokyang-dong, Uijeongbu too.

Where is it, and is there parking?
It hasn't been open long so everything is so clean! It's near Eulji University Hospital in Nokyang-dong, Uijeongbu. And parking's available right in front of the shop!

Weekday lunch atmosphere: is it fine for solo diners?
I went during weekday lunch and it seemed like word had already gotten out — there were solo diners around and people kept streaming in nonstop.
The self-serve bar is spotless, put right out in the open.

Choosing your toppings on the kiosk
At Gyeongseong Sundaeguk you order from the table via kiosk, and you can select no sundae, no head meat, no intestines, sundae only, intestines only and so on to match your preference without having to ask staff separately — super convenient! My older brother likes his sundaeguk without the sundae, so we always have to mention it separately, but being able to just tap it on the kiosk was great. We ordered the spicy sundaeguk set.

One really unique thing was sesame seeds along with a tiny mortar for grinding them — I'd never seen sesame like this at a sundaeguk place before! I thought of it right after ordering the clear sundaeguk and taking one sip — huh?! this would go well with sesame! It just clicked.

Opening event: free chapssal sundae (glutinous rice blood sausage)
As an opening event, it seemed like they were handing out chapssal sundae (glutinous rice blood sausage) tasting portions at every table.

What comes with the sundaeguk set: head meat and sundae first
And with the sundaeguk set came head meat and sundae too ><. They arrive before the soup itself, so if you're planning on a drink in the evening, this should already make for plenty of anju (drinking snacks)!!

Here's the basic side dish setup :)! The radish kimchi was delicious!! We're the type who piles on cheongyang chili peppers, so we asked, and they were at the self-serve bar!

How spicy and how filling is the spicy sundaeguk?
I'm the spicy sundaeguk type. Of every sundaeguk place I've tried, this was the spiciest! (by my standards.) It hit like a proper hangover cure, with a sharp, punchy heat — and even with a lot of meat in there, it was completely clean and spicy without any greasiness.

There's genuinely a lot packed in there. Unless you're a really big eater, the basic size should be plenty. And the sundae inside the soup isn't chapssal sundae — it's tojong sundae (traditional-style blood sausage)!

The broth style of the basic sundaeguk
The milky-white basic sundaeguk in its stone pot looks delicious too. The broth is relatively clean in style. Apparently, from the beginning, they aimed for a broth you can eat cleanly and without heaviness, rather than over-boiling it repeatedly into something greasy. So it leans more toward a style with little gamey smell and no heaviness to worry about, rather than the thick, funky old-school sundaeguk.

A palate cleanser on the way out
Right by the entrance there's the story of Gyeongseong Sundaeguk, and at the end you can grab some gangjeong (rice puff snack) and candy on your way out for a nice palate cleanser! Now that the weather's getting cooler, one bowl of hot sundaeguk can keep you full and warm all day. Highly recommend if you're craving a hot bowl of soup near Nokyang-dong, Uijeongbu!
