Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Baegun Lake Branch
Why Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Baegun Lake Branch for dinner in Uiwang
I went to Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Baegun Lake Branch for dinner near Baegun Lake. Located at 148 Neungan-gil, Uiwang-si, Gyeonggi-do, this is a grilled fish specialist that cooks fish in a 500℃ wood-fired oven, so it's a great option when you want a proper fish spread without worrying about the smell lingering at home. It was also a convenient spot to fold into a route before or after a drive around Baegun Lake.

Parking and opening hours at Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo
There's a large dedicated parking lot in front of the restaurant. No separate parking fee, which made it easy for a car-based trip around Baegun Lake. The parking spaces are generous and the building is easy to spot, so arriving with parents or kids and getting inside was hassle-free. Even after dark, the entrance and sign were easy to find. Hours are as shown below, and there's an afternoon break time, so be sure to check.

Hanok-style dining room and seating
Inside, the wood-toned, hanok-inspired interior was neatly arranged. The seats were generously spaced with divided areas, making it suitable for family meals as well as gatherings with parents or larger groups. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout the meal, which made things comfortable. Large windows and bright lighting kept the space from feeling closed in, and the tables were kept tidy.

What's on the self-serve side dish bar?
One of the strengths of Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo is the self-serve bar. It was packed with a variety of side dishes — japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), namul (seasoned vegetables), acorn jelly, and kinds of kimchi. You take as much as you like, so you can fill out your table to your own taste.
With so many side dishes on offer, the meal felt more varied than just eating fish the whole time, and everything was kept clean and well-managed. Taking small portions at a time meant the food stayed fresh through multiple rounds.

Menu and prices at Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Baegun Lake Branch
Ordering was done easily via the tablet at the table. The main menu centers on rice pot set meals — mackerel rice pot set, Atka mackerel rice pot, Spanish mackerel rice pot, plus wood-fired jeyuk (spicy stir-fried pork), wood-fired gulbi (dried yellow croaker), and barley gulbi sets.

Ordering was done easily via the tablet at the table. There are separate kids' mackerel set and kids' wood-fired hand-pressed tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patty) options, making it easy to pick something for children too. Beyond grilled fish, there's a wide range of choices including jeyuk, marinated crab, and egg drop soup, so it works well for families with different tastes.

Boyang set for two, 45,000 won: what comes out and how it tastes
We ordered the boyang set for two. It cost ₩45,000 for two people and included the rice pot as well.

With grilled eel, grilled mackerel, and grilled flounder plus braised mackerel all included, the spread was much richer than a single-fish set meal. I honestly didn't expect much from the eel at a grilled fish specialist, but it was clean-tasting and savory. I remember enjoying it thoroughly since there was no fishy taste at all.

The wood-fire grilled fish had a golden crust with moist flesh underneath, so my chopsticks kept going back for more. Who knew mackerel could be this tender!

Rice pot finished as scorched rice
In a Korean set meal, a rice pot makes a satisfying meal even better. We scooped out the rice pot while it was warm, then poured water over the leftover rice to finish it off as scorched rice.

The spicy braised mackerel had tender flesh well soaked in seasoning, offering a different flavor from the grilled versions. If you want to enjoy a variety like I did, I'd recommend the boyang set over the regular rice pot set meal.

Is the Uiwang fish grill worth a visit?
To sum up! Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Baegun Lake Branch, which I visited yesterday, is a Korean set-meal restaurant by Baegun Lake with a large free parking lot, a generous self-serve bar, a tidy atmosphere, and friendly service all in one. I'd highly recommend it if you're looking for a spot for a family meal or a gathering.
