Uijeongbu sundaeguk restaurant, mild spicy gukbap: Yetnal Gyeongseong

They say to watch out for colds as the weather cools down between seasons, and well... I caught one TT I was cold all over and my throat hurt, so I was craving something hot and soupy. I heard there was a new gukbap (soup with rice) spot near my house, so let me tell you about my visit!

Where is Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch, and when is it open?

Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch is at 778 Dongil-ro, 1st floor, Nokyang-dong 115-3, Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi-do. It's open from 10:00 to 22:00, has parking right in front, and comes equipped with group seating, takeout, and even a baby chair.

This Uijeongbu gukbap spot is located right next to Samdong Soba. And as an opening event, they're offering chal-sundae as a free service, no less!

Being a proper Uijeongbu sundaeguk spot, the parking lot is huge, so you don't have to worry about parking, which was great :)

This Nokyang-dong restaurant, Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk, is said to be a true local favorite people line up for in Yongin's sundae alley. Raw takeout is also available, and a 2-person portion sized like 3 servings costs ₩18,000.

The interior of Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch is spacious with a hanok (traditional Korean house) feel and a clean wood-tone decor! The moment you walk in, it feels clean and hygienic, which I liked.

If you're looking for a spot for a family gathering or a work dinner in Uijeongbu, I'd recommend Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk without hesitation. There's a group room inside, so if you book ahead, you can enjoy a quiet, cozy meal!

They also have baby chairs, so it's a great Nokyang-dong, Uijeongbu spot to bring kids to.

How to order: tablet menu and self-serve side dish bar

You order via tablet, and they offer a chal-sundae service for Naver reviews, plus a raffle for meal vouchers if you take part in a customer survey.

If the basic side dishes run low, you can just grab more from the self-serve bar.

The basic side dishes include kimchi, seokbakji (radish kimchi), peppers, onions, and more. And here's the chal-sundae we got from the opening event 🫧

Here it is~ This Uijeongbu sundaeguk restaurant's chal-sundae was chewy with no gamey smell at all, and dipping it in salt and ssamjang (thick dipping sauce) made it so delicious... 🤍

How spicy is the eolkeun gukbap? Mild enough for weak spice eaters

The spicy gukbap looked hot just from looking at it! Perfect as a hangover soup at Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk in Uijeongbu.

The spicy gukbap came in a generous portion~ Even by my low spice tolerance standards, wow, it wasn't spicy — just hot and hearty enough to enjoy.

Milky sundaeguk with more sundae and offal than broth

You can see the milky broth of Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk here... you add the dadaegi (spicy chili paste) yourself.

I love a gukbap place where the sundae, organ meat, and other toppings outweigh the broth!!! Hahaha

I think the second star of any gukbap place is the kimchi, seokbakji, or kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), and this Nokyang-dong, Uijeongbu spot's seokbakji and kimchi totally won me over haha. Crisp and perfectly fermented, it paired perfectly with the gukbap haha.

With perilla seeds added for a savory, delicious soup~ A perfect gukbap spot to cure a hangover after a heavy night of drinking... you could even have a drink here while you're at it! Haha

Meat + kimchi + rice + ssamjang. If you ever come to a gukbap place, you have to try this combo. An incredible combination... 🤍

The sundae was thick with absolutely no gamey smell, so even my picky-eater partner polished off a whole bowl saying it was delicious :)

This is the first time I've found such a delicious gukbap place in Uijeongbu, and I ended up eating two bowls of rice hahaha!! From now on, Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk is my go-to gukbap spot in Uijeongbu~
