Where to eat raw shrimp sashimi in Uijeongbu: why Suksung Robada-gil
Hi, this is Hayom💕 Isn't raw shrimp sashimi the hottest thing on Instagram these days? Haha. My feed has basically been taken over by it... I kept wanting to try it every time I saw the photos, so I went to a raw seafood restaurant in Uijeongbu to eat some myself.
The place I visited is called Suksung Robada-gil, a raw seafood restaurant in Uijeongbu. I usually like sashimi and seafood, so when I look for places in Uijeongbu I prefer ones with a varied menu — and this place really had a wide selection! Here's my review of the raw shrimp sashimi I enjoyed.
- ⏰ Hours: 15:00-00:30 (Fri-Sat only 15:00-01:30)
- 🚘 Parking: none on-site, nearby public parking lots recommended
- 📍 Location: 1F, 39-13 Hoguk-ro 1298beon-gil, Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea

Suksung Robada-gil is decently accessible from the station, but there's no parking at the restaurant itself, so if you're driving you'll need to use a nearby lot!

Inside Suksung Robada-gil: live tanks, tables and dachi bar seats
Before I even walked into Suksung Robada-gil, the live tank caught my eye! The seafood swimming inside looked fresh at a glance — I could even see the raw shrimp I was about to eat right there in the tank, haha.
The inside was bigger than I expected! It was decorated neatly around wood tones, and the overall mood felt less like a pojangmacha (street food tent bar) and more like a stylish izakaya. The lighting was soft and the tables were spaced generously, so I didn't feel cramped next to other tables — great for a relaxed meal.

There were also dachi (bar-style) seats in the back, which looked perfect for going solo and having a light drink with some sashimi.
What we ordered at Suksung Robada-gil and what it cost
At Suksung Robada-gil we ordered raw shrimp sashimi (12-15 pieces, ₩38,000) and buttered shrimp heads for an extra ₩2,000. There were so many menu photos that I had to just attach a video instead, haha. I loved that you could add the buttered shrimp heads for just ₩2,000 — when you eat raw shrimp sashimi, you have to get the buttered heads too...

The banchan (side dishes) that come with the shrimp
Once we ordered, the banchan (side dishes) started coming out one by one — seaweed soup, freshwater snails, seaweed salad, white kimchi, a salad, seaweed sheets, and even corn cheese. More variety than I expected! I really, really love freshwater snails, so I was so happy to see them at a sashimi restaurant.
How does the raw shrimp sashimi taste?
And ta-da, the raw shrimp I'd been waiting for finally showed up!
Seeing it in person after only seeing photos was honestly touching... isn't the color just gorgeous?

The plating was clean too, so I ended up taking a bunch of photos! The shells were glossy and shiny, so it looked fresh just by looking at it, haha.
I picked one up and tried it — the texture was bouncy yet chewy! I didn't notice much fishy taste at all, and it tasted fresh, haha.

And as you keep chewing, a subtle sweetness rises up, which was way tastier than I expected... You could really taste that clean, nutty flavor unique to shrimp, and the sweetness spread gently the more you chewed.

It was good dipped in chojang (vinegar-chili sauce), and also good with a light dip in soy sauce — honestly the shrimp itself was tasty enough to eat without any sauce, haha. Wrapping one piece in a bit of seaweed was also delicious!

From the very first bite it was cleaner and nuttier than I expected — felt like heaven...

And of course, a day like this calls for a glass of Maehwasu (plum liqueur soju), haha. Pairing a drink with the raw shrimp sashimi really set the mood.

Buttered shrimp heads for 2,000 won and a plate of sea squirt
The buttered shrimp heads we ordered separately exceeded expectations too! There was a subtle butter aroma along with a nutty, crispy texture, and dipping it in the sauce made it even better.

We also added a plate of sea squirt (₩15,000)! Yes... I'm someone who's obsessed with sea squirt, haha.

Eating the raw shrimp sashimi made the drinks go down so smoothly that we ended up ordering extra dishes too, haha. The sea squirt was fresh and delicious! All the seafood overall was so fresh that there wasn't a hint of fishy taste, haha.
