Yangcheon gopchang restaurant with 100-won noodles: Omokgyo

The weather has gotten so nice lately!! I went to Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch (오목교곱창 목동본점), with its wonderfully outdoor-stall-like vibe!!!! I kept saying, “Okay, let’s properly eat some gopchang (beef small intestine)!” and I finally did〰️〰️ The Live Today banner greeting me at the door made me even more excited!

Nearly full even at 6:30 p.m.

When I tried to reserve here, I got nervous after seeing reviews saying it gets crowded from 7 p.m. and reservations are not easy. But when I arrived at around 6:30? the place was almost full despite being so spacious—I was shocked!!! Omokgyo already has so much good food, so for people to seek out a gopchang restaurant down an alley like this, it has to be truly good, right? 🤘🤘

A concise menu that was easy to choose from

After arriving, I tucked my clothes and bag under the chair and looked at the menu. There were only a few mains and sides, so it was easy to choose and somehow made me trust it more. Whenever a place has a short menu, I take it to mean they are confident in it—and that it is delicious!!!! Omokgyo Gopchang’s menu was concise too, making it easy to read and choose from 👍👍

I was so curious about the homemade garlic gopchang, but I have only recently gotten into gopchang, so adding garlic felt like a high hurdle for me.. This visit got me hooked on gopchang, though, so next time I absolutely have to try the garlic gopchang!!

It is always a little disappointing to eat only gopchang, so you end up having a shot of soju 🍻 with hot pot, right??? Here, if you order gopchang and hot pot together, you can get the ₩12,000 golbimyeon for... ₩100!!!!!!! Omokgyo Gopchang lets me choose what I want to eat.. then gives me something delicious too... 💛

There are also all sorts of events, including a beef brisket giveaway and a roulette event, so make sure to join them all and leave nice and full!!! The owner even puts on a fiery flame show!! I find myself returning even more to places that have fun things like this to see 🔥🔥🔥

Complimentary soft tofu stew and grilled green onion kimchi

More than anything, the complimentary sundubu-jjigae (soft tofu stew) was such a rice thief that I had no choice but to order rice ?-? I often buy soft tofu stew for lunch at work, but they just give it to you here.. Owner, are you making any profit at all? ?-? 🥹🥹

Omokgyo Gopchang’s highlight and point of pride was the green onion kimchi. It was delicious grilled on the hot plate, with all the greasiness cut away!!

The staff told us when to eat the fried rice

We quickly ate the gopchang and ordered fried rice too. You just mix it together once the egg around the edge is cooked!! Staff members came by from time to time to flip it and tell us what to do, so we could eat comfortably!!!!!
