Family all-you-can-eat eel dinner in Hwaseong: Songrim Bok Jangeo

I visited Songrim Bok Jangeo, an all-you-can-eat eel restaurant in Saesol-dong that would also work well for a company dinner.

My husband had the day off, so after work we went out for a weekday dinner with the kids for the first time in a while. Lately, my husband and I have been paying a little attention to our diet, so even when eating out, we look for protein-rich dishes such as meat or fish. Then I remembered how delicious an all-you-can-eat eel place had been before. There was one nearby with good reviews, so we went to the Saesol-dong restaurant I had been curious about, Songrim Bok Jangeo.

Is it busy even on a weekday evening?

When we arrived, it was quite bustling despite being a weekday evening. I especially saw lots of tables of groups of men, so I guess eel really is something men enjoy, haha.

It also looked good for group meals, so keep it in mind if you are looking around for a Saesol-dong place for a company dinner or group gathering!

We visited with the kids, and it was convenient that high chairs were available. Whether a restaurant has high chairs is important when you are eating with young children.

How does the all-you-can-eat service work?

An all-you-can-eat experience that was easy from start to finish

The staff set up the basics at first, and after that, you get as much as you want from the self-service station.

I tend to look closely at self-service stations, and I liked that the food area was kept tidy. Since so many people use it, hygiene is something I pay attention to too, and I was satisfied that everything was clean and well maintained, haha.

Although it is all-you-can-eat freshwater eel, you do not have to eat only eel the whole time—you can also enjoy unlimited duck and pork belly. You can have eel, then duck, and add pork belly too, so it would be nice for families who enjoy a variety of foods, right?!!

Do eel and meat together ever get tiring?

Once we really started eating, the appeal of all-you-can-eat became clear. We could bring as much eel as we wanted, which made it feel less burdensome to eat with the kids, and adding other meats along the way kept the meal from becoming repetitive. It was especially nice that the kids did not eat just one thing—they had eel and meat, so they could eat a little of everything.

My husband and I have been watching our diet lately too, but on this day, we enjoyed a relaxed meal out for the first time in a while while eating as much delicious eel as we wanted.

How were the service and the owner?

The owner's kindness was memorable too~

They offered bokbunja, Korean black raspberry wine, as a complimentary drink when we visited. When we said that we do not drink alcohol, they offered to change it to soft drinks instead. It felt good to see that consideration for guests. The owner was also extremely kind, so I thought a family gathering would be able to eat here comfortably too.

We were so full that we ultimately could not try the eel soup we had been considering as a meal that day. I also liked that there were various ingredients and side dishes to enjoy with the food, and I am definitely going to try the eel soup on my next visit.

Songrim Bok Jangeo is listed as a business that cooperates with the Freshwater Eel Aquaculture and Fisheries Cooperative, which may be useful to know when choosing eel. The 2-hour all-you-can-eat dining limit also felt generous.

Takeout is available too, so it seems like a good option for anyone wanting to enjoy eel at home. It also seems well suited to anyone looking for a place for a family meal or group gathering!

If you are looking for somewhere to eat generously with your kids like I was, Songrim Bok Jangeo may be worth a visit. Next time, I need to properly try the eel soup too :)

Oh, and parking in Saesol-dong's food alley is really difficult and complicated, but Songrim Bok Jangeo is in a building with a parking tower, so parking was very convenient and they provide parking support too!
