Yangcheon Korean restaurant for late-night rice bowls: Haengbokhan

Haengbokhan Udon Gage Sinjeongnegeori Station Branch (행복한우동가게 신정네거리역점) is a restaurant with a wide range of dishes including udon, pork cutlets, and rice bowls, along with a clean, retro-style interior and friendly service.

It is open daily from 10:40 AM to 3:00 AM, with last orders at 2:00 AM. Delivery and takeout are available, too.

Getting there from Sinjeongnegeori Station

It is right in front of Sinjeongnegeori Station. Come out of Exit 1 and you can get there in three seconds! Since it stays open until dawn, it looked like a great place to eat even late in the evening.

The price list is displayed outside, which was nice because I could look over the menu before going in.

Retro interior and useful facilities

It is a restaurant with a retro feel. The old-school desks and chairs, along with the posters, really bring that atmosphere to life.

There are also lots of retro props, such as electric fans and a TV, so it is fun to look around the restaurant, too.

Extra side dishes are available at the self-service bar, and there is a range of drinks and alcoholic beverages as well. They also have high chairs, making it a good option for families.

A varied menu, from udon to drinking snacks

There are plenty of meal options, including rice bowls, pork cutlets, udon, and soba, plus dishes to have with drinks such as dubu duruchigi (spicy braised tofu) and dubu kimchi (tofu with stir-fried kimchi). Overall, the prices do not feel burdensome, and there are many hearty dishes that work well for a full meal, so it feels easy to visit whether you are dining alone or having a family meal.

You can also leave a receipt review. Choose one of honey tomatoes, a soft drink, soju, or beer.

Pickled radish and kimchi are served as the basic side dishes. You can get more at the self-service bar.

Three dishes for two people late in the evening

We were so hungry when we went late in the evening that we went for three dishes between two people (^^). Every single dish was incredibly generous!

Spicy pork rice bowl with real wok flavor

With spicy pork rice bowls, there are often ones with mostly rice and just a little meat, but this one had a huge amount of meat and vegetables. The strong wok flavor came through, and the sweet-spicy seasoning was so good.

Clear, refreshing Gaggi Udon

Gaggi Udon ₩8,000

Gaggi Udon is one of Haengbokhan Udon Gage's signature dishes. It had a clear, refreshing broth with plenty of yubu (fried tofu), while the noodles were thin but pleasantly chewy. The broth felt soothing and easy on the stomach, and it is the kind of flavor I think of on a cold day or when I want something to recover from a hangover.

The old-fashioned pork cutlet was better than expected

Can you see the size of that pork cutlet!!! It was the dish I was looking forward to most at Haengbokhan Udon Gage, and it was so delicious that it is one I really want to recommend.

The crisp-fried pork cutlet came with a sweet and savory sauce, and it was exactly the old-fashioned Korean-style pork cutlet flavor I wanted. I think getting the basics right is harder, but every dish at Haengbokhan Udon Gage had that textbook, back-to-basics flavor, making everything simply delicious to enjoy.

It tastes three times better when you eat the crisp pork cutlet with the cabbage salad and corn, too!!!

I loved that there are so many menu choices, making it good no matter who you go with, and that it is open late enough to visit anytime. In particular, every dish was so generous and delicious that I am planning to come back for other menu items. I think this will become a regular favorite whenever I want a delicious, filling meal!!!
