Dinner for two: sweet and soy dakgalbi at Yangju's Seorak Makguksu
In short
Seorak Makguksu Chuncheon Dakgalbi Yangju Branch is a charcoal dakgalbi (grilled chicken) restaurant on Mansong-ro in Yangju, Gyeonggi, right across from Lakewood CC golf course. A couple visited at 5:30pm for dinner and ordered one portion each of sweet and soy charcoal dakgalbi (₩16,000 each) plus a cold noodle dessert (₩6,000), with staff grilling the pre-seared meat tableside. Both sauces were equally good, and two portions of dakgalbi with one noodle dish was plenty for two adults.

This is a place my husband and I visited while looking for dakgalbi (grilled marinated chicken) in Yangju. It's Seorak Makguksu Chuncheon Dakgalbi Yangju Branch, near Mansong-ro, right across from Lakewood CC golf course.
It's not the pan-fried kind of dakgalbi — here, staff grill it all over charcoal for you.
- Domestic chicken thigh dakgalbi grilled over charcoal, with a choice of sweet sauce or soy sauce
- The meat comes pre-seared, and staff finish grilling it at your table, so all you have to do is wait
- The parking lot is spacious and free; open daily 11am–9pm, closed Tuesdays

Location and parking at Seorak Makguksu Chuncheon Dakgalbi Yangju Branch
It's at 211 Mansong-ro, Yangju, Gyeonggi. Right across from Lakewood CC, it's a convenient stop on the way back from the golf course.
There's a dedicated parking lot, which made things easy. We arrived around 5:30pm and the lot already had quite a few cars in it.

Why I'd recommend this as a charcoal dakgalbi spot in Yangju
As we parked and walked in, I thought "surely no one's here at this hour" — but there were already customers seated inside. It felt like seats filled up as soon as dinner service started.
My husband tends to eat his first meal of the day quite late, so we always end up eating at odd hours. This place runs straight through with no break time, which was convenient.
The dining room is spacious and tidy. There are high chairs and kids' tableware, plus a microwave for warming baby food, so it seemed like a lot of families with kids come here.
Since there's a golf course right in front, I imagine there's decent demand from golfers finishing a round too. I'd wondered why a restaurant would open in this exact spot, but once I sat down it made sense.
It has more of a lively, family-friendly barbecue-restaurant vibe.

What's on the menu
Once we sat down and opened the menu, the lineup was fairly simple. The signature dish is charcoal dakgalbi, available in sweet sauce or soy sauce, alongside noodle dishes like makguksu (buckwheat noodles) and naengmyeon (cold noodles).
The menu noted that the dakgalbi uses only domestic chicken thigh meat.
When you order, the pre-seared meat is brought out and staff place it on the tabletop charcoal grill and cook it for you. They handle everything — adjusting the heat, cutting the meat — so we just sat and waited.
Since I'm on a diet these days, we only ordered two portions of dakgalbi and one noodle dessert. It was a bit less than we'd usually order, but it turned out to be just the right amount.

Charcoal dakgalbi (sweet or soy) / ₩16,000
We wanted to try both flavors, so we ordered one portion of sweet sauce and one of soy sauce separately. Bottom line: it was hard to say which was better.
The soy version was delicious in its own savory, understated way, and the sweet version was just as good in its own right. If I had to pick just one, I honestly still couldn't.
Since the meat comes pre-seared, the actual grilling time is really quick. Once staff put it on, it was done cooking before long — all we had to do was eat. This was so much more convenient than flipping and grilling it ourselves.
I'd told myself I'd only eat a little, but I kept reaching for more without realizing it — it was hard to hold back.

Cold noodle dessert (mul-naengmyeon) / ₩6,000
We added vinegar and mustard and ate it nice and cool. It was the perfect palate cleanser after the grilled meat.
I didn't think the portion looked that big, but I was quite full by the time I finished it. Two portions of dakgalbi plus one noodle dish was plenty for two adults.

Among the basic side dishes, the yeolmu kimchi (young radish kimchi) was my favorite. It was so good I kept picking at it, which probably contributed to how full I got.

One wall had autographs from celebrities. Disposable aprons and high chairs for kids are also available.
Tips for visiting Seorak Makguksu Chuncheon Dakgalbi Yangju Branch
- Closed on Tuesdays — check the day before you go
- Even at 5:30pm there were customers, so I'd recommend arriving a bit early on weekends or during dinner peak hours

- If you're bringing kids, there are high chairs and a microwave for baby food
- Since staff do all the grilling, just be prepared for your clothes to pick up some smoky smell
Dakgalbi in Yangju — do you really need to drive all the way to Chuncheon?
I used to think you had to go all the way to Chuncheon for good dakgalbi, but honestly, this is good enough that there's no real need to travel that far. The charcoal smokiness comes through clearly, and the seasoning isn't too strong, so you keep eating without getting tired of it.
It was also nice that staff handle all the grilling, so we could just relax and chat while eating. If you dislike the hassle of grilling meat yourself, or if you're a family with kids, I think you'd especially enjoy this place.
If you're looking for a good charcoal dakgalbi restaurant in Yangju and happen to be near Lakewood CC, it's worth a stop. It's always nice to find a restaurant that does the food well. Hope they keep doing great.
