Today I want to introduce a Korean BBQ spot I love in Sinchon, Jjaengbanjip8292! The kkodeulsal (pork jowl meat) here was some of the best I've ever had... I want to give this place first-tier status!
Even the friend I went with said it was seriously delicious, and it's been a while since I dug into pork belly skin so thoroughly and enjoyed it this much. If you're looking for a good-value Korean BBQ place in Sinchon, Jjaengbanjip8292 is the spot to grab a great meal at a low price.

The location was great, within a 10-minute walk of Sinchon Station. I also got to check out the Yonsei University Everyone's Street nearby, which was fun.

Inside Jjaengbanjip8292 Sinchon

The exterior of Jjaengbanjip8292.

A Korean BBQ place famous for its abundant side dishes! I heard they even have a patent on it. Everything comes out piled onto one big tray (jjaengban, 쟁반), which is where the name comes from.

This place has also appeared on the TV show Live Today. Knowing it's been featured on broadcast, my expectations went up.

Inside, the tables seat 4 people and are spaced out nicely and generously! The tables are big too — probably because of how many side dishes come out.

Today we went with kkodeulsal and pork belly skin. For sides we picked the pan-fried rice and the soybean paste stew!
A full tray of side dishes and the table setting

The basic setup — a place where a huge tray comes packed full, a real side-dish spot. Stir-fried fish cake, gungchae (aster greens), ssamjang (dipping sauce), lettuce, scallion salad, sweet potato salad, kimchi, pickled radish, and kelp.

Fat trimmings, wasabi, garlic, and salt come out together too. Looks delicious.
Kkodeulsal x2, pork skin, fried rice and soybean stew

Two servings of kkodeulsal. It comes with king oyster mushrooms! Even at 2 servings, the portion is pretty generous. Good value for the price.

One serving of pork belly skin. The thick honeycomb-style pork belly skin makes its appearance. A must-order dish for me, personally.

Fried rice in a pan. Fried rice topped with a soft-boiled egg. Felt kind of so-so!

Soybean paste stew. Packed with beef and hearty ingredients, it had a deep flavor.

Stew! There was a lot of it too, so it'd make a great side dish with drinks.
What does kkodeulsal (pork jowl) taste like?

First, they grill the kkodeulsal for you. It's from the pig's head area, and its attractive texture is crisp yet chewy.

They also grill the mushrooms alongside, and there was myeoljeot (fermented anchovy sauce) too, so there were plenty of ways to eat it — a genuinely good-value Korean BBQ spot.

Grilling it nice and golden. The fully-cooked kkodeulsal looked insane.

Wrapped it in lettuce and ate it up.

Just dipping it in salt was seriously so good... I want to eat it again. Just thinking about that texture again now!

A combo of ssamjang, gungchae, grilled garlic, and meat.

A shot with grilled kimchi.

And by the time you're thoroughly wrapping it in pickled radish...

...wait, wasn't there a photo? There isn't. The pork belly skin... where did that photo go? I must have eaten it so enthusiastically I forgot to take a picture. The skin being thick is great, and it's already seasoned so it's plenty good on its own, but dipping it in soybean powder is the unwritten rule. Definitely order it! It's delicious.
