Palak paneer and tandoori chicken at Sinchon Indian restaurant Meno
In short
Meno Kamena Sinchon Branch is an Indian and Nepali restaurant on the second floor of an alley in the pharmacy street across from Yonsei University in Seodaemun, Seoul. The writer and a friend shared palak paneer (spinach curry with cottage cheese), half a tandoori chicken, garlic naan, mango lassi and Indian milk tea. Butter chicken curry is the signature dish at Meno Kamena, but the soft cheese curds in the palak paneer made this a different and satisfying meal.

Authentic Indian-Nepali cooking from a local chef with over ten years of experience! I visited Meno Kamena, a well-known Sinchon restaurant, and enjoyed a deeply flavorful palak paneer spinach curry along with crispy-yet-juicy tandoori chicken.

Ever have one of those days when you're tired of the same old meals and crave something exotic and fresh? Today I'm sharing my visit with a friend to Meno Kamena Sinchon Branch, famous as a Sinchon restaurant, to taste the real deal of Indian-Nepali cuisine 🍛.

True to its name, which means "hope" in Nepali, the place welcomed us with a warm, distinctive atmosphere from the moment we stepped in! From the spinach curry palak paneer prepared carefully by a local chef, to the charcoal-scented tandoori chicken, savory garlic naan, and chilled mango lassi — let me walk you through this rich, varied meal 🍃.

How to find Meno Kamena Sinchon Branch, and where to park
Meno Kamena Sinchon Branch sits about 450m from Sinchon Station on Line 2, making it very convenient to reach by public transit 🚗. It's tucked in an alley of the pharmacy street across from Yonsei University and Sinchon Severance Hospital, making it a perfect stop for a campus outing or a date course.

If you're driving, the nearby Changcheon Church parking lot offers the first hour free, then ₩2,000 per 30 minutes after that — an easy option even in central Sinchon.
What is the second-floor dining room like?
Walking into the second-floor space at Meno Kamena Sinchon Branch, the exotic atmosphere immediately caught my eye — like stepping into a tidy restaurant somewhere in India 💡. Elegant Indian-style paintings and decorations were placed pleasantly throughout the walls and space, and it was genuinely fun just looking around!

Staff and a chef who seemed to be from India greeted us with friendly smiles, which made the start of our meal feel even more special. The chef reportedly has over ten years of experience blending spices in the traditional way, which only built up my anticipation.

Half tandoori chicken: crisp outside, juicy and full of spice
The first dish to arrive was the half tandoori chicken, a must-try at Meno Kamena 🍗. It's a barbecue dish marinated thoroughly in traditional Indian spices, then roasted to a golden brown in a clay oven (tandoor).

With the first bite, the outside was grease-free, light and crispy, while the inside stayed juicy, wrapped in a pleasant, spicy flavor. There was no unwanted gamey taste, so it worked perfectly to whet the appetite.

What does palak paneer spinach curry taste like?
With such a wide variety of curries, choosing was a happy dilemma! Butter chicken curry is famously the best-seller at Meno Kamena, but on my friend's recommendation — she'd loved spinach curry during a trip to India before — we ordered palak paneer instead.

It's a spinach curry made with a fresh spinach base loaded with Indian cottage cheese. The soft, rich flavor of the curry paired with the paneer's soft, chunky, nutty texture made for a distinctly different, memorable experience. Not overly bold, but with an impressively deep savoriness.

Garlic naan with mango lassi and Indian milk tea
The garlic naan, which pairs beautifully with the curries, arrived fresh out of the oven, served warm and toasty.

The naan, fragrant with garlic, was light on the outside and wonderfully chewy on the inside! Tearing off pieces of the golden naan and piling on the mild palak paneer curry and tandoori chicken meat brought a rush of happiness with every bite.

Sipping the sweet, tangy mango lassi and smooth Indian milk tea between bites cleansed the palate and rounded off the meal with a perfect balance.
