Nowon all-you-can-eat sushi buffet date with yukhoe gunkan: Kuu Kuu

Today I went to a sushi buffet I love to bits — Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch :) It's a huge, comfortable space over 300 pyeong, and apparently people come here a lot for Nowon dates, Nowon staff dinners, and Nowon family gatherings!

Inside the 300-pyeong hall, with space for group bookings

The first thing I noticed walking into Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch was how bright and light-filled it is — such a comfortable atmosphere for a Nowon sushi buffet. Both the dining area and the food stations are spacious and clean over 300+ pyeong, so nothing felt cramped, and I heard they can host up to 300 people in a private-feeling space, which sounds great for Nowon staff dinners, group gatherings, or family meals!!

When you're eating with a big group the menu can get limited, so it's really nice that Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch still offers a relaxed vibe with such a wide buffet spread.

Upsized salmon and flounder sushi, plus Norwegian raw salmon sashimi

Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is the first place that comes to mind when I think Nowon food spot — even though it's an all-you-can-eat sushi buffet, the sushi quality is great, and best of all you get to pick only the sushi you actually like!! I always want to load up on my favorite pieces, which is hard at a regular sushi counter... but at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch you can totally cherry-pick, love it!!!!!!!!

The quality felt noticeably different from other Kuu Kuu branches I've been to — genuinely better? Turns out the salmon and flounder sushi have been upgraded, with much bigger cuts of fish than before. That's probably why the salmon looks so huge! It really doesn't feel like all-you-can-eat sushi anymore, the quality has gone way up.

And there was raw salmon sashimi too? Apparently Norwegian raw salmon — which isn't even at the Kuu Kuu Gold branch — has launched at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch. As someone obsessed with salmon and flounder, this made me so happy........♡ And honestly the sushi quality is just so good, right ㅠㅠ everything looked delicious so I struggled to choose..

A Nowon sushi buffet with a city view — easy on the eyes and the appetite, hahaha. The fish on every piece was so thick and generous it filled my whole mouth, and with a higher fish-to-rice ratio it felt way more delicious than before.

Especially the salmon sushi!!!! For some reason Kuu Kuu's salmon is just insanely good ㅠㅠㅠ especially the raw salmon... genuinely amazing.. With bigger fish the nuttiness of the salmon sushi is unreal.. so good....

Seasoned yukhoe or yukhoe gunkan: which was better?

How could I not love yukhoe (Korean raw beef tartare) too... it's basically a Kuu Kuu essential, right? The sauce has a bit of gochujang in it so it doesn't get sickening even after a lot, and being a true Nowon spot, the yukhoe looked fresh and vivid in color.

There was also yukhoe gunham (raw beef in a seaweed boat)!! If you want unseasoned raw beef, try this one — it's delicious.

Unlimited drinks, and how the free draft beer works

At Kuu Kuu, drinks are unlimited too, no add-on needed ㅠ Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is probably the only Nowon sushi buffet with unlimited drinks included. Beyond sodas, they've got trendy ube latte and slushies too, so you can sort out dessert to your taste right there!!

Good news for drinkers... unlimited free draft beer!!!!! You can drink actual draft Terra and Kelly unlimited — normally you'd need to pay ₩5,900 extra on top of the base fee for unlimited draft. Steamed blue crab, shrimp, smoked duck and lamb ribs on this season's menu

This season's hot dishes at Kuu Kuu are so good!! There's steamed crab and steamed shrimp too. The steamed shrimp quality is no joke....!!!! Getting shrimp this good at a Nowon sushi buffet ㅠ feels like incredible value........

They've also launched smoked duck and lamb ribs. I was even surprised to see clam soup with rice wine !!!! This kind of high-quality food at Kuu Kuu...? You basically have to run to Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch right now, don't you? The smoked duck is chewy and pairs well with everything else, and the lamb ribs are packed with that signature lamb flavor. Smoked duck is served from weekday dinner through weekends and holidays, and lamb ribs are available all day, just so you know.

Addictive buttered corn, vongole pasta and LA galbi

After a full round of sushi, we moved on to the other dishes!!! The spicy-sweet corn was so tasty, and the vongole pasta was delicious too ㅠ The pastas and meats are all so good that you could skip the sushi entirely and still get your money's worth just eating these. Whenever you want to eat a ton of different things at once, Kuu Kuu is the Nowon spot to go to, no question!!

Of the meat dishes, the LA galbi (LA-style short ribs) was seriously.. so good. Such great quality...................... sweet-and-savory and nutty.... and not chewy at all, just slides right down.

My boyfriend said the meat was delicious and mostly stuck to that!! Meat usually loses its flavor once it cools, but Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch keeps everything warm and well-heated, and the food turnover is good, so everything stays tasting fresh the whole time.

How fresh is the fruit corner? Desserts at Kuu Kuu Nowon

Another thing that surprised me was the fruit corner — fruit is genuinely expensive, so I expected small, skimpy portions, but it was displayed in big, generous cuts,

and the freshness?! Hahahahahaha, cut fruit shows its age immediately, but everything was in great condition. The bananas especially were beautifully displayed without a single bruise...?

I'm basically the type of person who goes to Kuu Kuu just for the marble ice cream, hahahaha. It used to only be available on weekday dinners and weekends, but now it's available for weekday lunch too?! I might actually come here just for the marble ice cream now.

And a visually stunning chocolate fondue on top — dessert was simply perfect ㅜ There were various cookies and marshmallows for dipping into the chocolate fondue too.

I was completely stuffed, but I still managed a whole bowl of marble ice cream and dipped plenty of cookies in the chocolate fondue before heading home. It really feels like one of the best-value Nowon sushi buffets out there! If I had to pick the best thing, it's the salmon sushi!!! Anyone who loves salmon, go for it :)
