Why poke works for a diet lunch

When you're dieting, cutting back on food matters way more than exercise, right??! But... if you only eat greens, you have no energy and end up binge-eating late at night out of nowhere — I bet everyone's had that experience at least once, right? (Please tell me it's not just me... ㅠㅠ)

So I think poke — healthy carbs, high protein, and packed with vegetables — is perfect for a diet! That's why I ended up visiting Ola Poke Gangnam✨

Ola Poke Gangnam menu and kiosk ordering

Ola Poke really has a huge variety of menus — shrimp, seafood, salmon, steak, avocado, and even custom salad/poke bowls〰️ You order at the kiosk📱

You need to grab your own water, chopsticks and fork. They even have mouthwash on hand — such a nice touch🫢

Solo dining zone to 4-person tables: solo lunch near Gangnam Station

They have a wide range of seating here, from a solo dining zone to 2- and 4-person tables, so you can come without any pressure at all. Sometimes you want to eat lunch alone but worry about the seating situation, right? ㅠㅠ But since Ola Poke has solo seats set up, it's perfect for enjoying a poke lunch!! Office workers nearby, give it a try〰️

Country-of-origin labels and prepaid card information

If you can't decide on a sauce, check out the recommended sauce guide! It even lists the country of origin kindly, so I could eat with extra peace of mind.

And they had ₩200,000 and ₩300,000 prepaid cards. The ₩200,000 card gives you an extra 5% back, and the ₩300,000 card gives you 10% back, so it seems like a good deal for office workers in the area〰️

I ordered the ₩14,500 steak poke and the ₩13,500 seafood poke.

Guide for choosing the rice-to-salad ratio

You can choose your own rice-to-salad ratio

You can actually adjust the amount of rice and salad. Usually at poke places I've only seen the choice between rice or noodles, but this was my first time seeing a place where you could adjust the ratio of rice to vegetables! Isn't this the best for people who want more veggies..💓✨

Guide to basic toppings and garnishes for poke

7 basic toppings and 3 garnishes in every bowl

Every poke comes with 7 basic toppings and 3 garnishes added!

  • Basic: red onion, corn kernels, pickled beet, pineapple, seaweed, lentils, chickpeas
  • Garnish: furikake, crispy onion, parsley

Mixed it all up〰️

The octopus, shrimp, and scallop toppings were more generous than I expected. No matter how much I ate, the toppings just didn't seem to run out...👍🏻 And having the pineapple as a palate-cleanser at the end felt like eating dessert, which I loved🍍

The amount of meat on the steak poke was insane too...

I went with the recommended sauce, and it seemed to have wasabi in it because it was pretty spicy.. If you're ordering it, add it little by little and taste as you go!!!

Poke bowl with a 5:5 salad and oat brown rice ratio

Verdict on the 5 salad : 5 oat brown rice bowl

I chose 5 salad : 5 oat brown rice, and the amount of vegetables was unreal...? Absolutely the best⭐️ Next time I'll try 3 salad : 7 oat brown rice! Even then, I think there'd still be plenty of vegetables.

Honestly, even with poke you can end up feeling a bit empty afterward... haha. But because Ola Poke's toppings and overall composition are so substantial, it actually kept me really full. Perfect for a diet💓 I'll definitely be back soon...🥹🥹 Strongly recommend Ola Poke Gangnam to anyone looking for poke near Gangnam Station🤍
