Is Ola Poke Gangnam comfortable for eating alone?

Ola Poke Gangnam has quite a few solo diners at weekday lunch. When I visited on a weekday afternoon, it felt like every office worker nearby had gathered here! There were group tables, but plenty of people eating alone too. It's a great place to dine solo.

What's on the menu at Ola Poke Gangnam?

The menu is diverse: tuna sashimi, garlic shrimp, super protein, seafood, fresh salmon, steak, avocado, smoked duck, chicken breast, buldak (spicy fire chicken-style) salmon, buldak octopus, and fried tofu! There are set menus that include soup and a drink, and sides like soup, tofu salad, buldak salmon, buldak octopus, and salad wraps for anyone who wants more.

Neatly packed Ola Poke takeout containers

How the poke bowls travelled as takeout

I took mine home, and the packaging was so neat and tidy that nothing leaked or spilled on the way. Disposable utensils are included too, so it's perfect for a picnic outdoors. It'd work great for delivery too!

Each poke comes with one sauce, and you can pour it on from the start, add it partway through, or dip as you go — whatever you prefer.

Colorful vegetables and toppings on the steak poke

Steak poke, 14,500 won

This is the steak poke. The base includes red onion, corn, pickled beets, pineapple, seaweed, lentils, chickpeas, furikake, crispy onion, and parsley, with options to add more. Even before eating, the colorful mix looks delicious.

Close-up of seasoned steak meat

Don't assume it'll be dry just because it's lean meat! The shop trims the connective tissue by hand, and maybe that's why it's tender and easy to chew, not tough or dry at all. The steak itself is seasoned, so it's tasty even on its own. Since it's mostly lean protein with almost no fat, I'd recommend it to anyone watching their diet too.

Seafood poke topped with shrimp, scallops, and octopus

Seafood poke, 13,500 won

Next is the seafood poke. The main ingredients are flying fish roe, 3 shrimp, 4 scallops, and 5 pieces of octopus! I went with a 7:3 salad-to-rice ratio — one nice thing about Ola Poke is you get to choose that ratio yourself.

The seafood poke is refreshingly cool, and naturally lower in calories than the meat option, so it's good for anyone dieting. Between the two, personally — since I'm a meat person — the steak was the clear winner for me!

Steak or seafood: which poke bowl should you order?

Poke is a great menu for a light, refreshing lunch or an easy dinner. It's also comfortable for eating alone. If you're looking for a salad poke restaurant near Gangnam Station, I recommend Ola Poke Gangnam! 🥗
