Gopchang restaurant near Sadang Station for two with soju-beer: Bareun
In short
Bareun Hwangso Gopchang is a Korean beef intestine restaurant near Sadang Station in Dongjak, Seoul. Two friends ordered the assorted gopchang set for two (₩24,000 x2), getting a hot plate piled with gopchang, daechang, makchang, and beef heart plus potatoes and rice cakes, and wrapping the offal with onion and chili kept it clean and never greasy. I met a friend in Sadang last week. We debated what to eat and decided on gopchang (grilled beef intestines) at a well-known gopchang spot near Sadang Station.
Bareun Hwangso Gopchang's location and store info

The place I visited was Bareun Hwangso Gopchang, a gopchang restaurant in Sadang-dong, Dongjak, right by Sadang Station.

Bareun Hwangso Gopchang is located right in front of Meomulgo Sipeun Geori (a street named 'the street you want to stay on'), which you reach by walking from Sadang Station Exit 10 toward Dongjak Station.
What's the interior and vibe like?
Going inside, the place wasn't huge — about 7 tables.
It being summer, the place could get a bit warm, but the AC was running, and with that street-facing atmosphere it almost felt like an outdoor pojangmacha (street tent bar).
Bareun Hwangso Gopchang's menu

Here's the menu board. At Bareun Hwangso Gopchang you can order Korean beef gopchang, daechang (large intestine), heart, and makchang (abomasum) individually, or get an assorted platter to enjoy a variety.
Assorted gopchang for two (₩24,000 x 2)
Since we came as two, we ordered the assorted platter for two.

Bareun Hwangso Gopchang runs a receipt review event where you get a free drink or side menu, so I'd recommend joining in.
What are the basic side dishes like?
The basic side dishes came out first. A hot-pot fish cake soup along with chives, perilla leaf pickle, and other side dishes that pair well with gopchang.

The fish cake soup looked refillable, and with bean sprouts mixed in with the fish cake, it worked both as a drinking snack and a hangover cure.
What's in the assorted gopchang platter for two?

Soon the order arrived. The assorted gopchang platter from Bareun Hwangso Gopchang came out with gopchang, daechang, makchang, heart, and potatoes — plenty for two, piled high on the hot plate.

First up, the chewy makchang.

The rich, savory daechang.

The tender grilled heart.
And finally the Korean beef gopchang, packed full of fat — the potatoes were fun to eat too. The whole platter came out raw, and the staff came by to mix and cook it for us.

Eating just gopchang, makchang, or daechang alone can get greasy, but pairing it with chives, onion, rice cake, and potato made it taste even better.

I tried the heart first — dipped lightly in just salt, it was absolutely delicious.
Daechang's fattiness can be hit or miss, but this one had no smell and less greasiness than expected, so I really enjoyed it.

Depending on your taste, dipping it in chives or sauce makes it even tastier.

When it gets greasy: onion wraps
As I kept eating, my chopsticks kept landing on the onion —

Wrapping gopchang and chili on top of onion like this made everything taste clean and refreshing, with no greasiness at all.

This Sadang Station restaurant uses Korean beef gopchang delivered fresh daily, and it really did feel fresher for it.

Deep in conversation with my friend, I got so absorbed in the delicious gopchang that time flew by. Good gopchang with a glass of somaek (soju-beer) — nothing could top that happiness.

Snacking on potatoes and rice cake here and there gave us a good sense of fullness too.
Finishing off with buldak tongtong noodles
Can't skip the carbs, right? From the receipt review event, we got the buldak tongtong myeon (spicy fire chicken thick noodles) side dish. First it comes out in a hot pot,

then you dump it straight onto the gopchang plate. Stir it around to coat the noodles in the oil, and it's done.

I'm honestly not a fan of thick udon-style noodles, but the buldak tongtong noodles were genuinely delicious. I meant to just have one bite but kept going back for more.

Eating it alongside the gopchang, makchang, or daechang makes it even tastier.
Would I go back?
That was my review of Bareun Hwangso Gopchang, a great spot for a meal or date near Sadang Station. I went without much thought but ended up enjoying it so much that I decided next time I'll pay out of my own pocket. If you're looking for a gopchang restaurant near Sadang Station, I'd recommend Bareun Hwangso Gopchang!
