So my kid finally went back to school!
Which meant my husband and I finally got some time for a date, after ages. Our date spot: an escape room café!! There was one I'd had my eye on for a while,

Cube Escape Daejeon Dunsan Branch
— that's the place. Let's get into the review!

Where is Cube Escape Daejeon Dunsan Branch, and what themes does it have?
Cube Escape is an escape room café in Dunsan-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon, located less than a 5-minute walk from Galleria Department Store.

At Cube Escape you can enjoy 6 themes, each with a 60-minute time limit.

There are 6 themes running: Cinderella, Titanic, The Martian, Obsession, Organ Trafficking, and Catacomb (also called Gate of Wailing).

Why we chose Obsession, the four-star horror theme
Difficulty varies by theme, ranging from 4 to 5 stars. My husband and I agonized over it and ended up choosing Obsession, a 4-star difficulty theme!

Obsession follows a father searching for his missing daughter — it starts with tracking down a mysterious man seen with her on CCTV. It's a bit of a horror theme, so keep that in mind~

Inside Cube Escape and what the wait is like
The interior was really clean and had great atmosphere. Since it runs on a 60-minute escape format, you enter the themed room right at your scheduled time.

We arrived with a bit of time to spare, so we sat at the table and waited — and there was even a mystery puzzle on the table, so the wait wasn't boring at all.

If you escape within 60 minutes using 3 or fewer hints, you get to take a photo. There were so many photos on display that my husband and I vowed to get our photo up there too.

There are also lockers for each theme where you can safely store your phone, bag, and other belongings — good to know~

And the staff were really kind. They walked us through how to use the escape room and the order of things in detail, which I really appreciated.

4 hints and 60 minutes: how the Obsession escape ended
When it was time, we closed our eyes and followed the staff member in — which somehow made me feel even more immersed in the new space. Solving each mission one by one in this unfamiliar room was such a thrill. The satisfaction of reasoning things out and hearing that lock click open was amazing.
There was a clock in the room so we could check how much time was left, and that tension was so satisfying. My husband and I used 4 hints and barely made it — we didn't actually manage to escape. But the whole process was so much fun.

I've been so addicted to short-form videos lately that it's hard to spend time without my phone, but reasoning through clues to escape made for a genuinely fun hour. Can time really fly by that fast? I'd 100% go back!!
Next time, a different theme!!
