Chicken cutlets in Hwaseong: Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch

In short

Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch is a handmade pork cutlet restaurant in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. We walked straight in at 6 PM on a weekend and tried pork tenderloin cutlet, a cold soba set, and chicken cutlet for 14,000–17,000 won. Verdict: the tender chicken cutlet with tartar sauce is a must-order.

Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch location and parking

Kkot Gatsu is located around Mok-dong in Dongtan 2. You can park along the roadside nearby, and I heard there is also a dedicated parking lot in the building! If those are full, the nearby Mok-dong public parking lot reportedly offers 90 minutes of free parking. It is only a one-minute walk away, so parking should not be too difficult.

Weekend evening interior and wait

If there is a wait, you put your name down and enter when it is your turn. We visited around 6 PM on a weekend, and there were about three seats available, so we got in right away.

Kkot Gatsu interior with wood-tone lighting

The wood tones and soft lighting give the interior a comfortable feel. The mix of guests was really varied too: families with young children, couples, groups, and people dining with their parents. It was the sort of place where anyone of any age could feel at ease!

Self-service bar and takeaway containers

Self-service bar by the entrance

There is a small self-service bar by the entrance! Feel free to help yourselves to any extra side dishes you need.

What especially caught my eye were the self-service takeaway containers! Once we actually ate, the portions were quite generous 🫢 It was handy that we could pack leftovers ourselves, and we put our remaining pork cutlets into a takeaway container too.

Okay—let's dig in 😋

Kkot Gatsu's signature tenderloin cutlet

Plated Kkot Gatsu tenderloin cutlet

Kkot Gatsu's signature pork tenderloin cutlet! I fell for the presentation first. This signature tenderloin cutlet captures the essence of Kkot Gatsu, with juicy tenderloin and a soft grain. Its texture was tender and its exterior crisp, so I could see why it is the restaurant's signature dish 😀

And the rice is delicious!! Honestly, when the rice is good, it feels like you are already halfway to a great meal. It was nicely fluffy and separate 👍👍

A cold soba set for when cutlets feel too heavy

If pork cutlets feel a little too heavy, I recommend the cold soba set too. Even with 100 g of tenderloin, it is substantial and surprisingly filling 🫢🫢

Cold soba with radish and wasabi

The refreshing cold memil (buckwheat noodles) had just the right amount of radish and wasabi, making for a great combination. This is a dish to enjoy quickly before summer is over!!

My favorite chicken cutlet, chosen instead of fish cutlet

The ordered chicken cutlet

And then there was the chicken cutlet I enjoyed most ✨ I had actually planned to order the fish cutlet, but it was sold out, so this was our substitute. But wow, what if I had not ordered it!! It became my favorite 💛 Not only was it crisp, but the meat inside was unbelievably tender!!

When I traveled in Japan before, I went to a place that was famous as a real foodie destination and had even been featured on Choo Sung-hoon's YouTube channel. This was so delicious that it was genuinely comparable to that place.

The chicken cutlet comes with tartar sauce, and the combination was insane!! I enjoyed this chicken cutlet so much—please make sure you try it 👍👍👍

Packed leftover pork cutlets

There was so much that we could not finish it all, so we neatly packed it up to take home :) It had been a while since I last had katsu (breaded cutlet), and the chicken cutlet was seriously so good that I think I will come back again 😋✨ What a delicious meal.
