Mushroom-broth kalguksu and bossam at Shabuway, Seohae shabu-shabu

What did everyone do this weekend?! I finally — finally! — competed in a badminton tournament, a whole 7 months after surgery... I was so nervous and so happy. My foot still hurts so I went in just to have fun, but my husband and I ended up placing 3rd in the 2030 B group?! I was seriously, seriously over the moon ꒰(៸៸›⩊‹៸៸)꒱♡ Okay, quietly leaving that little brag here... now onto the main topic! Today I'm introducing a Cheongna, Ruwon City favorite: Shabuway Ruwon City Cheongna Branch!

Hours and parking

Hours are daily 11:30–21:30, with a break time from 15:30–17:00.

Parking is available in the building's basement levels 1 and 2, or at Ace Tower right in front!

First impressions

Wow, I was genuinely surprised!! It's big, clean, and upscale — I'd never seen such a stylish shabu-shabu place before. The moment I walked in I thought, we're definitely coming back here (՞. .՞)ꔫ˖♡

The reason we ended up here was that I took a day off to practice for the badminton tournament, and we stopped by on our way home from working out!

There's also a new hair salon that opened in Ruwon City, so my husband and I went, and it was clean and they did a great job with his hair!! I'm planning to get my hair done there soon too, haha.

Weekend prime shabu all-you-can-eat price

Now let's really dig into Cheongna's shabu-shabu favorite, Shabuway. We went for the weekend/holiday prime shabu all-you-can-eat for 2 adults, priced at ₩29,900!

Right now Shabuway Ruwon City Cheongna Branch is also reportedly running a free draft beer event on weekdays and weekends, so definitely check it out!!

We went with basic (mushroom) / spicy half-and-half (+₩2,000). Meat and vegetables are brought to you first! Everything else you get from the self-serve corner. This self-serve corner is amazing .. ♡՞⸝⸝. .⸝⸝՞݂˳ഒ All kinds of buffet food, desserts, and even fresh, top-grade American prime beef..

What's in the self-serve corner

The vibe is really nice, right — this doesn't even look like a shabu-shabu place, more like a hotel salad bar!!

Ta-da ~ starting with vegetables! So many kinds of mushrooms, and even minari (water dropwort)!! Plus pasta, kimchi, and gungchae namul (aster greens) haha. The kimchi is delicious so make sure to try it. It's also great eaten together with the kalguksu!

Meat, broth, vegetables for rice wraps, kalguksu, even porridge — all neatly set out!!

Sauces, salad, and soup

Check the sauce pairing guide to make things even tastier!! When I eat shabu, I pretty much only use chili sauce, haha..

Chicken, sweet and sour pork, pizza, and even bossam

There's fried chicken, sweet and sour pork, and pizza too!

And there's bossam (boiled pork wrap) too, which is delicious!! Highly recommend eating it with kimchi!!

Desserts and drinks

The desserts are flawless too. Fruit, ice cream, and all kinds of toppings!!

There's draft beer too, along with soda, plum juice, and orange juice. The orange juice is seriously amazing ~

Meat, mushroom broth, and kalguksu

All set and ready to dig in properly. Three kinds of meat too, haha, and it's super fresh!! I really had to pace myself because I felt like I could get full just from the salad bar before even getting to the real shabu-shabu, lol.

My husband and I usually prefer spicy broth, but this place was different. The mushroom broth is seriously delicious!!!!! You have to try it. Ah, what broth should I get next time. I want to try sukiyaki too, ugh. By the way, is anyone else who eats their rice wraps like me? Lol. I never used to do it this way, but that day I just wanted to eat like this, haha.

My husband said the mushroom broth was so good we had to make kalguksu with it, so he even cracked an egg into it — and topped with kimchi, it was seriously amazing, ugh.

My husband and I had a contest to see who could decorate their ice cream more prettily, and I won by a landslide in the Instagram poll, haha. Can you guess which one is mine ~? Lol
