Small raw shrimp sashimi and salt-grilled shrimp: Veteran Guwol
In short
Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch is a fish restaurant on Gwollidan-gil in Guwol-dong, Namdong, Incheon, known for its rare raw shrimp sashimi. The writer ordered a small raw shrimp sashimi, salt-grilled shrimp and seafood ramyeon, then finished with shrimp head grilled and a self-made kimchi pancake at the self-serve bar. Given the size of the shrimp and the generous self-serve bar, it's great value — 100% would return.

A fish restaurant on Gwollidan-gil in Guwol-dong that serves raw shrimp sashimi
This post is about a Guwol-dong restaurant, Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch. Before heading to the café in Guwol-dong I posted about earlier, I stopped by a famous fish restaurant on Gwollidan-gil in Guwol-dong — and this place has great value overall, plus raw shrimp sashimi, which is rare to find at a fish restaurant!
It's September now, so it's a great season for shrimp, right? This time I came to demolish some shrimp, for real...
Getting there and parking
By subway, Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch is a 7-minute walk from Exit 6 of Yesulhoegwan Station, on the main road along the Gwollidan-gil alley in Guwol-dong.
If you need parking, the building has an underground lot so it's convenient — but the entrance is a narrow alley, so drivers of larger cars should be careful. There's also plenty of street parking behind the restaurant, which is where I ended up parking. In Guwol-dong, once it's past 7pm you can basically park anywhere (as long as there's a spot, haha).
Outdoor terrace, spacious interior, and group seating

Here's the outdoor and indoor look of Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch. There are a few tables on the outdoor terrace at the entrance, plus a fresh fish tank you can see there too.
Inside, near the entrance (by the dessert corner), there's a separate group section that fits 30 or more people, and there's more seating further inside too — the place is spacious overall, so it's a popular spot for group gatherings or company dinners.
For reference, Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch is open daily 11:00–03:00 (last order 02:00).
Menu, prices, and kiosk ordering
Here's the menu board at Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch. You order through the kiosk at each table. I forgot to photograph the menu myself, so I'm using a photo from Naver instead.
There's a wide range of seafood on the menu — salt-grilled shrimp, raw shrimp sashimi, mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), assorted sashimi, flounder, rockfish, scallop sashimi, sea squirt, and more. Fish restaurant prices tend to be steep these days, but assorted sashimi for two here comes to under ₩40,000 — pretty great value overall, right?
If you make a Naver reservation, you can get 5 buffalo wings, and if you leave a Naver receipt review, you can also choose between 2 dried persimmons, 2 abalones, or 4 pieces of fried bread shrimp! (Check the kiosk for details.)
What we ordered
- Small raw shrimp sashimi
- Small salt-grilled shrimp
- Seafood ramyeon
- Non-alcoholic beer (Terra)
- Kelly
Side dishes, self-serve bar, and homemade kimchi pancake

Before the main dishes arrive, you get basic side dishes including seaweed soup and pollock roe hoe-muchim (spicy mixed raw fish)! The seaweed soup here is genuinely delicious.

Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch also has a really well-stocked self-serve bar — not just basic side dishes, but you can grab ramyeon noodles and dumpling-soup noodles too. Usually places charge an extra ₩2,000–3,000 for extra noodles like that, so this is a real bargain! You can even make your own kimchi pancake (jeon) exactly the way you like it.
Raw shrimp sashimi (small) and grilled shrimp heads
So the small raw shrimp sashimi arrived first. It came with grilled shrimp heads on the side too. Even the small size had a pretty generous portion, and each individual shrimp was quite large... Fresh and hefty raw shrimp means the texture is out of this world too. It really melts in your mouth.

The grilled shrimp heads next to the sashimi were savory and delicious too. My girlfriend showed me a trick for peeling shrimp heads this way that makes it much easier — a great tip when eating grilled shrimp heads. Grilled shrimp head is a top-tier drinking snack, paired with non-alcoholic Terra and a glass of Kelly.
This is how you grill salt-grilled shrimp for the best flavor

Next came the second main dish, salt-grilled shrimp. It's fresh, live shrimp grilled right there with salt, so I feel a little bad for the shrimp — but I say a quick prayer (I'm Buddhist) and dig in happily.
Shrimp gets tough if overcooked, so the best moment to turn off the heat is right when the shrimp turns red — then let it cool a bit before peeling, since it's hot! Once again, my girlfriend, master shrimp-peeler that she is, peeled them for me. On most blogs you usually see guys peeling shrimp for their girlfriends, but everyone has their specialty (I handle the fish-boning, haha).
The shrimp is already seasoned from the salt-grilling, so it's delicious even without dipping sauce or ssamjang.
The seafood ramyeon broth is a work of art

Last up, the side dish, seafood ramyeon. It's packed with bean sprouts and seafood, so the broth is honestly a work of art. So refreshing... it feels like an instant hangover cure. There's also loads of shrimp in there besides the mussels. Today was truly a shrimp party.
The dessert corner: coffee and ice cream

Finally, there's a dessert corner with coffee and ice cream! Even in September it's still hot, so ice cream is the standard choice. Even dessert is on point here...
Overall thoughts
Overall, with its group seating and spacious layout, this is a great place for group gatherings or work dinners, and given how fresh and hefty the shrimp is, the value for money is solid. This time it was a shrimp party, but next time I want to come back for the assorted sashimi! I'm very happy stuffed full of shrimp... Highly recommend the raw shrimp for anyone who loves shrimp. 100% would return.
