Dugeundugeun Sutbulgalbi (두근두근숯불갈비), the pork galbi place in my neighborhood, apparently opened this past May, and I finally got around to checking it off my list. It's close enough to Nobyeon Elementary School that I just walked over. A pork galbi spot in Suseong-gu, Daegu with tons of service and a taste that's a full 100 points.

I went out for charcoal-grilled pork galbi, a Sizi favorite in Daegu. Dugeundugeun Sutbulgalbi — even the name is pretty, right? I went for an early dinner.

Since it's a freshly opened, brand-new restaurant, it was super clean, the staff were kind, and there was so much complimentary service that I was genuinely touched.

If you're looking for pork galbi in Suseong-gu, Daegu, come to Nobyeon-dong in Sizi. It sits on a big main road, just a bit further up from the Sizi branch of Jeonbok Myeongga. The space is huge and there's group seating too.

We went for early dinner and ended up being the very first customers. This area sits next to an apartment complex, so it seems like a lot of families come through — they also keep plenty of baby chairs on hand.
Menu and prices at Dugeundugeun Sutbulgalbi, including the lunch special
Dugeundugeun Sutbulgalbi's menu: seasoned pork galbi ₩12,000, pork belly/pork neck ₩12,000 each, flower marbled beef sirloin ₩18,000. Spicy naengmyeon, plain naengmyeon, and kimchi noodles are ₩7,000 each.
There are already plenty of Korean BBQ places in Sizi, but having a big pork galbi place like this in the neighborhood too — I'm marking it down as a go-to spot for family galbi trips.

Isn't that lunch special price pretty great? I'd planned to go for lunch, but my daughter fell asleep with her contacts in, her eyes got inflamed and red, so after a trip to the hospital we stopped by for a late lunch/early dinner instead. The staff were kind and the food was delicious, so we were satisfied.
Banchan and free food: fried eggs and sundubu jjigae

They bring out a lot of side dishes too. Instead of steamed egg, here they give you fried eggs and sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew) as complimentary service — I kept asking why there was so much free stuff, haha.
Three servings of pork galbi. Felt like a lot for the two of us to finish... bone-in, original-style pork galbi.
The fried eggs that came as service — my daughter and I each slurped one down. Eating it as an appetizer before the meat was so nice on the stomach.

How to grill charcoal pork galbi: flip it fast
Found myself a real pork galbi spot in Sizi, Daegu. Once the charcoal is in, you just put the meat straight on and flip it quickly.

My daughter worked a long time at a Korean BBQ place part-time, so she's good at grilling meat now, haha. I used to grill it all for her myself, but now she just puts the meat on the grill on her own and sets out the spoons and chopsticks — such a sweet daughter.
We'd already had pork galbi with skirt steak a few days earlier, but we were hungry again, so we came back for meat — 3 servings of pork galbi with naengmyeon and kimchi noodles, and the two of us ate until we were full.
Is this really service?? All this?? The owner at this Sizi pork galbi favorite really seems to just keep giving and giving. The sundubu with a cracked egg stirred in was spicy and tangy and genuinely delicious.

You put the pork galbi on the grill and flip it fast. My daughter is quick-handed too, grabbing the tongs and doing a whole-round flip in a flash, haha.

It'd be nice if my husband could join too, but he always gets off work late so eating together is hard, haha. So it was just my daughter and me enjoying good meat, then a stop at the pet mart for cat treats and a shopping trip to Daiso.

Naengmyeon and kimchi-mari guksu: 7,000 won for a big bowl
It's not just the pork galbi that's good — the naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) we ordered as a side dish was delicious too. At dedicated naengmyeon restaurants a bowl runs ₩12,000, but here it's ₩7,000 and the flavor is still really good.

I really found a proper pork galbi spot in Suseong-gu, Daegu. The meat is great, and every single dish is made with care. Korean BBQ places can sometimes feel a bit grimy with meat smell lingering, but Dugeundugeun Sutbulgalbi is kept truly clean and hygienic.

I ordered the naengmyeon, my daughter ordered the kimchi noodles. The broth used is the naengmyeon broth — there's a generous amount and it's great for wrapping with meat, so I asked for extra when I placed the meat order.

My daughter likes noodles more than rice. We ordered one naengmyeon and one kimchi noodle and split them half and half — the naengmyeon is better for wrapping with meat, and for a full meal I'd recommend the kimchi noodles.

The portion of kimchi noodles was no joke. If you come at lunchtime, I think this one bowl alone could fill you up completely. The kimchi is crisp and the cool broth fills your mouth — it really felt like it blew away all the greasiness from the meat.
Even 3 servings of pork galbi turned out to be a lot, so we grilled it all in one batch and shared it happily between the two of us — since it's marinated, it burns easily, so you have to flip it fast.
Wrapping well-grilled pork galbi in naengmyeon — man, haha. Anyone who's tried this combo ends up loving it.

We wrapped it with lettuce and perilla leaves too. A bite of pork galbi in a fresh lettuce wrap is great. If you're looking for a Korean BBQ place in Sizi, Daegu, this is the one I'd recommend without hesitation.
At the register: yogurt drinks and lollipops
There were even yogurt drinks set out as service by the register, haha. When I said there was way too much complimentary stuff, the owner's mindset was clearly "just give plenty," and I loved that. They even had lollipops ready so you could pop one in your mouth on the way out.
