Kara ramen spice levels at a Beomeo-dong, Daegu ramen shop: Ryusenso
In short
Ryusenso Beomeo Branch is a ramen restaurant in Beomeo-dong, Suseong-gu, Daegu, and the Daegu branch of a shop whose main store is in Haeundae, Busan. The order was the spicy tonkotsu Ryusenso Kara (11,000 won) and yaki gyoza (6,000 won), and spice level 1 or 2 worked best, since going hotter buries the deep flavor of the ramen broth. After more than ten visits, Ryusenso Beomeo Branch is the favorite ramen spot to return to whenever hot broth is what you want.

What kind of ramen restaurant is Ryusenso Beomeo Branch?
❝Ryusenso Beomeo Branch❞, a Beomeo-dong ramen restaurant in Daegu known for its rich broth and clean-tasting ramen.
Ryusenso has its main branch in Haeundae, Busan, and in Daegu there's a Dongseongno location as well as this Beomeo branch. There turned out to be way more chain locations than I expected — not just Daegu and Busan but Gyeongju, Pohang, Seoul, Incheon, and more! If someone asked me to recommend the best ramen in Daegu, 📍Ryusenso is the first place that comes to mind .. 🤍

Seating and parking: bar counter for solo diners, Beomeo public parking lot
This Beomeo-dong spot has both a bar counter and regular tables. There's quite a lot of hall seating, so it seems comfortable for a family dropping by for a casual meal near home — and of course, ramen really does taste best eaten at the bar counter! With so many hagwons (academies) nearby, the bar seats seemed popular with solo diners too. We sat at a table just to make taking photos easier haha 🤎🪑

🅿️ For parking, use the Beomeo public parking lot. It's a bit tight on space, but maybe I've just been lucky — there's always been a spot open every time I've come!
Ryusenso Beomeo Branch menu and ordering from your seat
The menu here includes ✔️ the tonkotsu ramen Ryusenso, the spicy tonkotsu ramen Ryusenso Kara, the soy-based ramen Asari, the seasonal Ryusenso Kaki, Ebi Miso, katsudon, karaage, and more. You can also add extra chashu, noodles, tamago, green onion, and wood ear mushroom separately!

A convenient system where you can order and even pay from your seat. Plenty of places let you order from your table, but it's rare to find one where you can also pay from your seat — having both in one is so convenient 👏🏻

Ryusenso Kara, 11,000 won: why spice level 1-2 is best
🍜 Ryusenso Kara / ₩11,000
Ryusenso Kara is genuinely Ryusenso's best menu item! Since the spice level is adjustable, it's a great pick for Korean diners who find regular tonkotsu ramen a bit bland. Even the plain Ryusenso tonkotsu isn't bland at all thanks to its rich flavor — but with Kara, going too spicy makes ramen's own deep flavor disappear, so you can't fully taste it. I'd recommend level 1 or 2 ❗️ (if I ever decide I really need something super spicy today, there's level 3 .. haven't tried it)

Exactly the soft, thick-cut chashu I love 👏🏻 and finishing it off with the soft-boiled egg makes for a really satisfying meal. The wood ear mushroom in the middle adds nice texture, and the noodles are springy ✨ I've come to Ryusenso more than ten times now — when I want something clean and savory, tonkotsu ramen; when I'm craving something spicy, Kara! The clean, mild Asari was delicious too. I still haven't tried the Kaki .. definitely need to this winter 🤭

Yaki gyoza, 6,000 won: the best partner for the ramen
🐷 Yaki gyoza / ₩6,000
I'd been craving dumplings the last few days so I ordered the gyoza 🤍 completely juicy yet light, and the best thing to eat alongside ramen! (It was way tastier than expected — I wanted to order another plate)
Why Ryusenso Beomeo Branch is worth more than ten visits
📌 I used to genuinely dislike ramen, and Ryusenso is what taught me to love it!! I've visited so many times — 1n visits and counting — that it's become our favorite restaurant. If I don't go with him, my husband still sometimes goes on his own haha. As the weather turns chilly and you're craving hot broth or just want good ramen, Ryusenso in Beomeo-dong is my recommendation! Not too greasy, just light and satisfying to eat 🤍
