Today I went to Ikki Roll Katsu Garosu-gil Main Branch for lunch with my kids. They said they wanted pork cutlet, so while looking around for a good spot, this place kept coming up as a Garosu-gil favorite, so I decided to check it out. There's nothing more foolproof to eat with kids than pork cutlet, so picking the menu wasn't hard either.
Where is Ikki Roll Katsu Garosu-gil Main Branch, and is there parking?

Ikki Roll Katsu Garosu-gil Main Branch is a basement restaurant tucked inside Sinsa-dong's Garosu-gil. It's also within walking distance from Sinsa Station — about 450m from Exit 8.
We drove there, and there were about 4 parking spots right in front of the building. Luckily one was open, so we could park right away. When I visited there was no valet, and I didn't pay any separate parking fee. That said, parking isn't super plentiful, so if you're driving I'd recommend checking nearby public parking lots ahead of time just in case.
Inside the basement dining room at Ikki Roll Katsu

Head down to the basement and the restaurant is right there.

The inside was cozier and more comfortable than I expected. There were roughly 7–8 tables, plus a 6-person table, so it seemed fine for families or larger groups. There was also a separate meeting room on one side — looked like a spot you could reserve if you wanted a bit more privacy for a small gathering or meal.

How tablet ordering lets kids pick their own dishes

Every table orders via tablet, and it turned out to be surprisingly convenient with kids along. They could look at the menu photos and pick what they wanted to eat themselves, so my kids spent a while browsing before deciding. Having photos right there made choosing way easier than trying to explain a printed menu.
What we ordered at Ikki Roll Katsu

We ordered four dishes in total.
- Curry cheese pork cutlet
- Sweet potato cheese pork cutlet
- Vegetable-topped charred beef brisket jjolmyeon (spicy cold noodles)
- Butter garlic fries
Just ordering pork cutlet felt like not enough since the jjolmyeon looked good too, so we added fries and shared everything.
📺 The roll katsu restaurant featured on Live Today (생방송투데이)

Turns out Ikki Roll Katsu Garosu-gil Main Branch was featured on SBS's Live Today Show (생방송투데이), episode 2553, on April 16, 2020. It appeared in a segment called 'The Fantasy Course – Sinsa-dong Breaking the Mold of Taste,' introduced as a roll katsu favorite showcasing the appeal of katsu rolled with various fillings. One of the signature menu items featured back then was the sweet potato cheese pork cutlet — the very dish we ordered that day. With cheese stretching dramatically and a generous amount of sweet potato mousse on top, it was a good pick for eating with kids who like sweet flavors.
🧀 Sweet potato cheese pork cutlet

First up, the kids' favorite: sweet potato cheese pork cutlet. Cutting into it, there was so much cheese that the stretchy visual alone made everyone's mouths water.

There was also a generous layer of sweet potato mousse, which I especially liked. The cutlet meat itself wasn't too thick, so it didn't feel heavy, and the accompanying pork cutlet sauce was tasty too. The sweetness of the sweet potato combined with the cheese made this an easy dish to share with the kids.
🍛 Curry cheese pork cutlet

Second was the curry cheese pork cutlet. This had a totally different feel from the sweet potato version. The curry flavor gave it a nice twist, and the curry sauce that came with it was better than I expected. My husband finished his cutlet and then mixed the leftover curry sauce with rice. Since rice is available at the self-serve bar, if you run short you could grab more and mix it with the curry — that seemed like a great move.
🥗 Charred beef brisket jjolmyeon, the dish we kept reaching for

Honestly, the dish I enjoyed most that day was, surprisingly, the vegetable-topped charred beef brisket jjolmyeon. Maybe because it had been a while since I'd had jjolmyeon, it tasted even better than usual. True to its name, it came piled with vegetables and included brisket, making it a great pairing alongside the pork cutlets. Eating pork cutlet non-stop can get a bit greasy, but pairing it with the tangy jjolmyeon balanced things out nicely.

🧄 Butter garlic fries, for garlic sauce lovers

The butter garlic fries we ordered as a side came with a generous drizzle of garlic sauce, so if you're a garlic sauce fan, you'll enjoy this. There was plenty of sauce over the fries, making them easy for the kids to pick up one by one.
🍲 The self-serve bar with brown rice, soup and side dishes

One thing I really liked about Ikki Roll Katsu was the self-serve bar. There was broccoli soup and jangguk (clear broth soup) ready to go, plus basic side dishes like radish salad, kimchi, and pickled radish that you could help yourself to. I especially appreciated that brown rice was available too.

If you order the curry cheese pork cutlet and the rice that comes with it isn't enough, it's nice being able to grab a bit more rice from the self-serve bar and mix it with the curry sauce. When eating with kids, they often ask for more rice or side dishes, so being able to just grab what you need was convenient.
Our first family visit to Ikki Roll Katsu

This time we visited with the kids, and having a variety of pork cutlet dishes meant everyone could pick according to their taste. Having menu photos on the tablet so the kids could choose for themselves was fun for them too. The sweet potato cheese pork cutlet had generous cheese and sweet potato mousse, and the curry cheese pork cutlet came with plenty of curry sauce to enjoy alongside. As for my husband and I, the vegetable-topped charred beef brisket jjolmyeon was our favorite dish that day. Ordering both pork cutlets and jjolmyeon meant no overlap between dishes, which made it easy to share a variety of food.
Is Ikki Roll Katsu worth it for tonkatsu in Garosu-gil?

If you're looking for a good pork cutlet spot around Garosu-gil or Sinsa Station, this place is worth a visit. Most of the pork cutlet dishes are in the low-to-mid ₩10,000s, which isn't too pricey given the Garosu-gil location, and it works well for everything from a family meal with kids to a get-together with friends or a date. If you're curious to try pork cutlets a bit different from the standard, like kimchi cheese pork cutlet or curry cheese pork cutlet, Ikki Roll Katsu Garosu-gil Main Branch is a good place to pick from.
