Duho-dong record bar in Pohang with an LP wall stage: Rokdam Localdaum

I recently visited Rokdam Localdaum near Yeongildae in Pohang! It has café drinks and Western dishes, but the point I was most curious about was that you can enjoy whiskey, vodka, and other liquor all in one place.

I went with one other person, and I heard they sometimes hold blues or jazz performances, so I thought it'd be nice to have a drink and soak up the atmosphere haha. There wasn't a performance that day, but let's get into how it went!

Where Rokdam Localdaum is, opening hours and parking

Rokdam Localdaum is at 328 Samho-ro, 2nd floor, Buk-gu, Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do — a 220m, 2-minute walk from Hwanyeo Hoetjip. Hours are Mon–Thu 16:00–24:00, Fri–Sun 12:00–24:00, and last order is 23:30.

• Parking: The lot beside the crosswalk next to the building is the building's own lot (free). Alternative parking is the Yeongildae Beach public lot (about 1.6km)
• Takeout, delivery, reservations, and group use are available, and venue rental is possible too
• Seating: private room (up to 25), group seating (up to 150), counter seats, bar table
• Pet-friendly, wifi, separate men's/women's restrooms, corkage available (fee applies)

Finding the entrance: from street level up to the second floor

The building's ground-floor entrance catches your eye right away. Warm lighting hits the staggered brick pillars, giving the entrance atmosphere before you even go in. The place is on the 2nd floor, so you walk in and head upstairs.

Near the entrance, a glass display case holds a globe, old electronics, and whiskey bottles. There was even an Asahi ad panel set up, so there was a lot to look at before even going upstairs.

Along the stairway window, whiskey and gin bottles are lined up, with a music stand off to one side. I stopped for a moment just looking at the bottle labels lol.

The restroom is out in the hallway in front of the entrance.

The first page of the menu has all the usage details laid out carefully. Bottles are stored for 3 months if you order one, the setting fee is ₩5,000 per person (waived if you join the KakaoTalk channel), and there's a glass breakage charge, so keep that in mind!

Inside Rokdam Localdaum: mirror ball, drum stage and a wall of LPs

Once inside, I was surprised at how much bigger the place was than expected.

A mirror ball hangs from the ceiling, spinning under soft light that scatters shimmering spots across the floor and tables — it's a bar, but it had a bit of a club feel to it. (Definitely not a cheap-looking vibe.)

What stood out most was the stage area. There's a full drum kit, a Marshall amp, and a music stand, and behind it, a projector plays DJ visuals on the wall. On performance days, this must be where the music happens.

One whole wall is packed with LP records, and lit up like that, each album cover looked almost like a framed picture. Sitting at the bar stools in front of it, looking at the LP wall while drinking, seemed like a great way to spend the evening.

There was also fun in browsing the vintage props — a stack of CRT TVs, a boombox, and a shelf with a guitar.

Which seat should you choose?

• Round table seats: good for two people
• Wall-side sofa seats: for when you want to sit a bit more comfortably
• Bar counter seats: recommended for solo visits or pairs

Each table had its own wireless lamp, so even in the dim lighting, the menu was easy to read. There was no special event that day, but jazz and other good vibes music played nonstop, and I enjoyed listening to it the whole time. It wasn't loud enough to make conversation hard — it played like a background layer, which was great for talking as a pair.

How did the pina colada, X-martini and lemonade taste?

We ordered three drinks that day.

Pina colada (non-alcoholic), 9,000 won

Since it's a non-alcoholic item, it was more like a smoothie than a cocktail. It had pineapple and banana flavor and went down really smoothly. A lemon slice was stuck in it, which made it pretty to look at too.

X-martini, 13,000 won

It came out in a martini glass with a pink tint. Tasting it, it felt like a fairly strong peach liquor. It made sense once I noticed the menu listed it at 22 proof. The scent is sweet, but the alcohol hits you after, so I'd recommend sipping slowly haha.

Fresh lemon ade, 5,800 won

I ordered this because it's from their house-made syrup lineup, and it came packed with ice and lemon, which was great for cleansing the palate between drinks.

Truffle fries, 8,000 won

As a snack, we ordered the truffle fries. They came out piled generously on a plate, sprinkled with parsley and white cheese powder.

They'll give you ketchup if you ask, but I actually liked it better without. The fries themselves were well-seasoned as they were, so I kept reaching for them even without sauce. At ₩8,000, it wasn't a burden to pair with just one drink.

Is Rokdam Localdaum worth a visit?

This was a place where both drinkers and non-drinkers could each enjoy it their own way. It was really nice to talk over a cocktail or non-alcoholic drink in a spacious room with music playing.

What I think is the biggest draw here is getting to try higher-end spirits like whiskey and vodka. We mostly stuck to cocktails this time, but I definitely want to come back to try the whiskeys by the glass.
